Well, i promised i'd post earlier and I see no reason not to at this juncture of the day. Not to mention i have time as I'm on my lunch break so the stars are aligned....let's hope. And i just met a seriously gorgeous girl (i'm handsome too, so i think we might be rolling around in the hay so to speak sometime in the next few days;). But most of you could care less about that, so I'll get to the more important information concerning tonight.
Not sure how it ended up this way, but the best plays represent schools starting with the letter M this evening. It's a bizarre trend, and there is a Richmond thrown in there, but overall these teams represent the highest propensity to win. And there are some MEGA matchups that I would advise most to stay away from as the $$$ is not usually made on these tight lines and difficult encounters. So let's get to the information and let's hope you guys collect.
Sneaky little 6:30 pm game thrown in there huh? Michigan State at Penn State and the line is a short 5 points? One might think that MSU has some problems on the road covering this spread, but they virtually OWN Penn State. Not to mention, they have been playing mind boggling basketball over the past few weeks and I see no reason they don't cover this spread. Usually when games start early, it's also a way of avoiding a blood bath that Vegas would take as this line should be considerably higher. But Penn State has played well, especially at home, and it's a Big Ten conference game, so the line is short enough that I say MICHIGAN STATE is very strong play this evening. Might come down to late FT's so don't take the game if the line moves much higher.
Has anyone else realized that NO cappers have even mentioned the MD/Miami game tonight. I mean either side has not even gotten a look, which usually points to a game being a gem. And I do believe that Miami is giving WAY too many points at 7.5 to a MD team that is more than capable of outright winning this game. Grevis Vasquez has been horrible of late, and I think he comes back into form, meaning MD is very likely to cover if not win when he scores 17 or more points. The only negative is that MD does NOT play well at Miami, but I think that changes tonight. Not to mention Miami will be looking forward to this weekends showdown with UNC, and while they may win, I don't expect they do so big.
I just can't believe that Ole Miss is laying only a basket at home to Arkansas, a team they seem to handle. Great letdown spot for the Razorbacks as I think they can and will drop this game on the road. Ole Miss is quite torrid at home and has owned this series in years past. Arkansas is 0-8 in Ole Miss and the home team is an incredible 13-3-2 in the last 18 meetings. Add to that Ole Miss is 8-1 at home and I think this is an easy victory for the Rebels.
Not too many schools to speak of in West Virginia so when the Mountaineers face off against Marshall, I see a bit of a rivalry. The underdog is 4-1 in the past 5 meetings and the public is ALL OVER West Virginia. This is another game where you just have to have some large ..... to take an inferior Marshall team. But West Virginia have played down to competition this year and just got blown out on the road, so I'm thinking they might very well win this one, but by a lot closer margin than most expect. Vegas wins this game, so stay on our side.
Finally, a game that does not contain an M. And I really love Richmond in this spot. This is just flat out one of those games that every year they seem to outright win, so the 8 points are like a gift. VTech is not that good a basketball team this year, and I think they take the Spiders lightly while the opposite can be said for Richmond. We've gotten very little play on Richmond as well, if not very little altogether for the game, so I'd hang my reputation on the Spiders being really sneaky here.
In the NBA, I would take Miami, another M team, as they are just too good to be getting 7 points to a Bucs team that, while they might win, I cannot see blowing out the Heat. The underdog usually does well in this matchup so take the points and run. Same can be said for OKC who has been on a tear the past few weeks covering games. I'm not too scared of UTAH on the road as for some reason they don't crush teams as they do at home. Plus Williams is a little nicked up so I see a high scoring affair being covered by OKC.
Wow, lot of games, lot of info, let's see how they play out. Can't promise an unblemished record, but I can surely try. Hope this helps you guys. I'm still thinking about that girl....
As always, good luck to all....
