Anyone else like the Wolverines getting 15 here?
 
I know the Hoyas are a final four team, but all the top teams have been slow getting outta gate so far.
 
Thoughts?

I was thinking G-town -7 would be the line.  I am very much liking Mich and the +15.

I would think Michigan would hang within this number.  It seems a bit too high.

Georgetown won by 16 last year at Michigan, against arguably a better Michigan team. Its also not like Beilein's system gives them any advantage here. Georgetown absolutely torched West Virginia last year. I think Georgetown will be better this year than last, but early on its hard to tell what the freshman are going to bring to the table. But I would not sleep on Austin Freeman. I'll be at the game, but I am not going to touch this number either way.

I went small on Mich, not overly confident but number seems a bit high.

As a GTown alum and superfan, I too will be at this game.  I was also at their first game against William and Mary and played the Tribe +23' to a win as the Hoyas won the tilt 72-58.  The Hoyas tend to play down to weaker opponents - especially with a noon start on a Saturday.  It took them 20 minutes to wake up.

The reason why I will be on the Hoyas tonight is because of what I saw during the 2nd half v. the Tribe.  The first half finished with the Hoyas winning 35-30 after we attempted to beat the Tribe with our outside shooting.  Hibbert, off. eff. machine that he is, had 6 points. 

He finished with 23 and 8 - scoring 17 in the 2nd half and burying the Tribe.  Tonight, we will see 40 minutes of Hibbert ball.
 

Trends:
Mich 3-13-1 L17 away

Mich 3-8-1 L12 v. Big East

2-8-1 L11 as a dog

 

GU 4-1 L5 after SU W but ATS L

GU 11-5-1 L17 as a home fave

GU 14-6 L20 v. a team w. a record over .600

 
 
In the second half, we ran our entire offense through him.  He murdered the Tribe down lown - they had no answer for him, just like Michigan will have no answer for him.  The Hoyas bubbled their lead up to 18 in the 2nd half before giving way to a couple of inconsequential baskets to get the final margin (15).
 
I see Georgetown energized tonight by a 7pm start time and a nationally "known" foe with a coach they know well.  I expect high energy from start to finish.  I'll lay the 14.5 and take GTown.

I'm a GU grad as well, longtime season ticket holder, but I hope you are right about tonight. Its actually Georgetown's defense I'm most worried about. Think the Michigan point guard Harris is going to be too quick for Wallace, and Sims will have a big game if Summers is matched up on him. I just hope we don't see Rivers out there too much. He's painful to watch. I just don't see a lot of value tonight. Think Gtown could cover, but its too early in the season to get a real feel for the team, especially given their early season struggles the past three years under JTIII.

I can't believe Michigan would get blown out that bad. They're not a top team in the Big 10 , but they are always considered a competitor.  Without Jeff Green, Georgetown will be struggling a bit more to get points.

Michigan at +15 has great value, as at times Georgetown's methodical Princeton offense allows for games to be lower scoring and sometimes closer than you would think. Hence, only beating lowly W&M 68-53 last week.

If GTown doesn't turn the ball over, I think we'll be fine.  We will slow down the pace, get the ball to Hibbert (UM has no answer for him - Udoh will have trouble shot blocking a guy who is 7'2").  I expect a lot of missed shots from UM tonight - if we rebound defensively, we should be alright (fortunately, Udoh is only average on the glass).
 
From ESPN, last week:
 
Much of this preseason has been spent just teaching his new troops how to catch, pivot and make the passes necessary to run his unique back-cutting offense.

"Sometimes you're really fortunate to get one or two [players] it's really easy for," Beilein said. "We haven't found that yet at Michigan. I see a few guys that are coming closer and closer, but it only takes one to break down to have to restart everything back over again, so there's some things we just can't hurry."

Finally, a little system I dug up:

Big Ten teams taking the road after two or more straight home games are 15-39 ATS (was 4-8 in 2006-07). 

Food for thought, at least.

I never lay this many points but on the other hand I'm sure as hell not betting Michigan. Wouldn't be surprised to see the Hoyas roll here but there has to be better games to play than this one
