do yourself a
favor and ask yourself why two teams like syracuse and kstate struggled
against butler. two teams that realistically could have won it
all.......any idea?????? was it because of what you mentioned(they
played bad) was it cuz butler (caught them in a bad spot) its called
swarming defense! here are two teams that can put up points at will and
could not put the ball in the bucket! let me explain something there is
a reason why butler has won 23 str8 games.....you can be off
offensively, but defensive teams are never off on the defensive side.
defense puts pressure on you, pressure therefore turns into
mistakes....go to a empty gym and shoot a 100 free throws you can make
what 80? 85? now go to a huge stadium with the seats full how many will
you make 65? 70? its called pressure. what defense does is wear you
down. this team held utep to 59 points, murray state to 52,SYRACUSE TO
59, AND KANSAS ST.TO 56. do yourself a favor and some money..and play
butler...without lucas michigan state will struggle to get good
looks.....yes izzo is a BEAST but STEVENS is setting his mark for the
next decade as being a force to reckon with!
its because Butler dictated the tempo.. Cuse and K-state like to push push push.. when buckets dont fall the team with he slower tempo has the advantage.. well guess what Mich St. plays about the same tempo at Butler and will not get discouraged..
Lucas missing has not been a big deal for Mich St. still don't understand why people don't realize they can play without him.. they did earlier in the year, least we forget the team being forced to come together to compensate for him missing.. they are playing as good if not better with him missing from the lineup..
here is the stat thats gonna make all the difference in this game
Mich St out rebounds their opponents by 9.3 a game Butler out rebounds their opponents by 2.6 a game

Michigan State has won 4 games by a total of 13 points. They are shooting 41 percent from the 3 point line which is far above their season average. The 3 point shots dont fall this game and MSU goes down.
Nothing favors MSU in this game. They are not the MSU teams of the past that play great defense and rebound. This team has lived off of their offense in this tourny.

I believe K State was a better rebounding team than Butler on paper as well, but who had more rebounds in that game.

I tell you one other game that doesnt get mentioned much anymore, they beat a very potent UTEP team in Rd 1. Caracter played decent (not great) but the UTEP guards were held in check. And that in itself is a feat.
Have to disagree on the tag you put on UTEP. As far as I'm concerned Conference USA was as down this year as it has been in the last ten, evidenced by the early exit of all Conference USA teams in post season play. Decent in an average conference won't get it done at the end of the year. Just hoping that game is not one of your main reasons for the play you're making tonight. BOL and the rest of your points are valid just think that UTEP and the conference as a whole was over rated this year and cashed quite a few tickets in post season play to prove it. Again BOL.
