So do the Pirates troll Twitter and use the Vegas line as motivation? The line is -1.5 and was even most of the day. SH is not really a 'dog' with such a line.
Yes, this is a Goanzaga team that is weaker than in years past but look at last year's team: they had no business getting as far as they did only to be dispatched by Duke but as always, they stepped it up in the tournament.
And yes the travel is disrespect. But can the psychological motivation to overcome that disprespect counter the actual physcial toll the travel, thin air and start time of the game will have on them. I think the latter is much stronger in this spot.
I hear you my brother. Man, I don't know which team is the "most conditioned" team but that mile high air might play a factor in this game lol. Just curious if you think this will be a home game for the Zags since it is in Denver? But ultimately, and yes your right, that SH on paper is the favorite, but are they really? Is there much of a difference btw these two teams??? Let take a look...
The Zaggies per KenPom ranked 4th in the nation with 29.1% of its points coming from the power position. Add another 24.5% of its scoring is done by the Zag's five man, which is 39th in the country. Seton Hall comes at the bottom tier, (close to last) on those results. PM me if any of you guys want more data I tested.
Sabonis, and wiltjer are beast when it comes to scoring load and a couple of other big bodies make them solid up front... So whats the deal? why not Zags -3,-4, or -5??? Shitty season? injuries a bit? Now its Marchmadness...
Seton Hall on the other side has Isaiah Whitehead. Whitehead averages 18ppg, 5.0 apg but efficiency rating is 31.3% which is top 20 in the nation. He going one and done to the NBA and he goes as SH goes. I just see Whitehead going off and he at a level now where he is maturing and knows the game. Freshman year, he was banged up, injured, played more one on one, but now he is more mature, and knows how to play the game. Just look at the Big East tourney, where the refs let them play physical.
Bottom line: Vegas see these two teams as pretty close and even. There not a lot of difference btw these two teams plus both prolly go 7-8 deep. But as we seen over the years in the tourney, if you have that one super star who can create, and set up your players, and take over a game, you have a shot to win... There just a certain toughness with this SH team this year that I havent seen for the past 2 years... Hopefully, these refs let the Pirates play lol. (grabs, holds, pushing lol since that is Big East Ball haha)
Anyways, I am going with the pirates but BOL my brother...
