I don't mind what you are doing but you lingo is off.
Middling means you lose juice or win both bets. In this case both bets are not even so losing one bets means losing double what you can possibly win.
Do not watch the game just wait and see the final score.
Middling to me means having 2 bets, where both sides are essentially different bets, and you have a middle ground to win both.

In some extreme cases you can get both sides at + money and guarantee yourself profit. But those situations are rare. If you are calling this "middling," you are re-defining the term. Middling minimizes risk. You have a $3,500 exposure out there.
