Not much time as I am between college classes and have a ton of grading to do. Needless to say that was the worse I have had all season last night. After realizing that I'm 10-3 my last 13 and still have over doubled my bankroll this season, the emotion of the disappointing loss wore off and now I am seeing clearly again.
As you may or may not know, I live in San Antonio and I got my undergrad degree from UTSA. I was jr. high and high school basketball teammates with UTSA all-time leading scorer and current New Orleans Hornet Devin Brown and been to many games over the last decade.
UTSA has one of the top-5 most experienced team in the nation (according to Kenpom) with only one underclassman serving a meaning role on the squad. This team is UBER-disciplined and plays a tough man-to-man defense and grinds the ball down on offense as well.
UT Corpus-Christi is more athletic than UTSA, but they also play a similar tempo and play tough defense. I believe we are getting value on the total because in the Southland there are numerous teams that play some of the fastest tempos in the country (Texas St and Texas Arlington are both in the top-25 in the country in tempo and Sam Houston St is over 70 possessions a game themselves). So both teams have some high scoring games on their resume, but it is a product of their opponents.
I got get back to work but there are numerous other reasons why UNDER 128.5 is a very nice play today. For any of us on Butler over last night we know that anything can happen, but this should be low-possession, tough defense, very close game and I don't see both (or hopefully either) team getting much more than 60 points. Good luck with whatever you decide.
