No one saying "why did the coach burn his timeouts"
So the coach needed to save 1 timeout after Vandy scored to remind his players that they were up by 1. Timeout did not cost them the game. It was a complete brainfart...and the hero 3 ball from 30 feet out down by 1.

They had the lead for less than 1 minute the entire game. Not that surprising that he didn't realize they had the lead if the scoreboard wasn't updated.

You always try to save at least one TO for the last minute of the game. These are kids, it's a high leverage situation, and yes it's easy to have a brain fart under pressure. A timeout would have been crucial. During timeouts coaches don't explain rocket science, they calm their players down and are usually emphasizing the obvious things to do and reiterate the "situation" they are in.
One poster above said that the score board wasn't updated...the kid reacted on pure reflex after seeing the wrong score. This all happened within what...5 seconds? The kid made a mistake, I'm not saying he's not at fault, but the coach would of had them in a better position to win if he didn't over use his timeouts early in the second half.
As for the hero ball 3 pointer...you think if they had a time out before that possession the coach might of drawn up a better set play? I think so.

I heard the announcer say that there were 7 lead changes in the last 2 minutes of the game.

No...the Vandy player fouled the NW player with 14 seconds remaining....then the Vandy player..down by 1..decided to dribble the ball waiting for a last second 3...The fact that it was way beyond the 3 point line is nuts...Even the announcers were saying he needs start making his move. Vandy player took the shot with under 4 seconds remaining giving his team no chance to get a rebound or foul with some time left. There were able to foul with 1.4 seconds remaining but then it was over.
