Felt the same way. Not much to rely on with Maryland, but it reminds me of the BC game where Virginia came out up 20 at half and let BC come back and cover the number.

It's not about offense for Virginia. It's about defense. They shut teams down and can go on big runs, especially if they get breakaway steals. If teams don't shoot well from 3 or don't remain focused on O almost every possession, Virginia will get in your head and things will unravel quickly. Virginia has been up by as many as 20 points in every single one of its 10 ACC wins. They were 17-19 at the FT line on Sat. They had a tight game with GT because GT was hitting the 3 (some fairly lucky) in the first half. But Virginia wears on you, and all it takes is a 6 or 7 minute let down or fatigue down the stretch and then they've got you and pull away.
Having said all that, this is a rivalry game, MD has Seth Allen back fully healthy playing well, they are a talented team playing their best ball of the season. The question is can they figure out how to solve UVa's pack line and motion offense in a 48 hour turnaround and they played their starters for a lot of minutes. Virginia is deep and have won 14 straight ACC games at home.
Virginia is 10-1 ATS in ACC. Hard to bet against that trend.

This is a huge lopsided game and the line hasn't budged from 11. Also maryland is a good rebounding team and they have a + 3.7 margin of victory. I can see it being close going into half but sometimes teams come out of half flat and if that happens against this defense, it can turn ugly fast for maryland. Idk I might be over thinking it

BC covered the number because the officials came out and started calling fouls right after halftime. They called 3 on Virginia on one possession early in the 2nd half and gave Joe Harris his 4th very early in 2nd. Also, UVa shot a lot of FT and missed a lot. The officiating didn't allow UVa to play its defense and gave up 46 pts in 2nd half, which is an absurd outlier. That's the one thing about ACC basketball that can make predictions difficult. Every few games you see officiating that is wildly inconsistent. Paying attention to officiating crews and officiating stats wouldn't hurt

Virginia never played at North Carolina. It comes down to matchups. All those teams listed can't score at all. Fsu Pitt can't score and nc state is just plain bad. Virginia played unc when they weren't playing well Maryland got them later in chapel hill. This game has no play all over it for me. Maryland isn't great but they are playing better of late and can score. 11 seems a bit much to me

I stand corrected.....it was indeed a 31 point win at NC St, and a 15 point win at home to North Carolina. Seems like both of those scenarios should only reinforce the fact that Maryland should be dominated AT VIRGINIA tonight. " it comes down to match ups " .........????
What " match ups " are you referring to ?

The teams they beat up on all have the same problem. They don't score and play a defensive minded game which Virginia does better than all of them. The teams that they have lost to like duke and Tennessee are teams that can score the ball especially from the perimeter. Seth Allen and Faust have been scoring the ball lately especially from deep and then u add in wells as a guy who can break down a d by getting into the lane. Marylands bigs especially Mitchell has been playing really good also. Not saying the cavs don't win but I think Maryland might have enough to keep up with Virginia to the point if covering. Again overall this game is a no play for me. Just trying to share my insight. If u play Virginia I hope it hits for u

That's not true of NC ST, UNC or BC

Unc at the time was not playing well and they don't threaten anyone from the outside nc state and BC are really bad teams. Let's put it this way and now I'm going to sound like a Virginia hater and I actually think they are a solid tourny team but where are their good wins? Is there any on their schedule up to now? Pitt? We know they aren't very good now. The top teams they played like wisky and duke they lost to.

Virginia, Virginia, Virginia, Virginia. I would take them before i take Maryland on the road for sure. Maryland playing better of late one guy said... Yeah at home or if there playing VT who sucks.. lol All i can say is if you take Maryland i would feel scared and just waiting for them to collapse and Virginia take over and pull away.

Very little difference between UNC today and when UVa played them. UNC has destroyed everyone since that game and the opponent right before playing Virginia.
Virginia also beat SMU in Texas.
Can't judge Pitt because of the VT game. Patterson had a hand injury in that one.
Virginia also beat FSU twice when they were fully healthy. Now that Ian Miller is out they are a different team.
That's 5 quality wins. They had Duke beat in Cameron if It weren't for a lucky bounce Suilamon 3. Still covered the spread.
They are ranked 7th by Ken Pom.
I don't know what else to tell you other than you are stretching your arguments to make Virginia sound weak.

Pitt hasn't beaten anyone either and I'm a huge Tarheel fan and watch every second of every game and they are a completely different team. Virginia can certainly cover especially at home. Good luck. I hope u hit
