With an average age of 22.9 years, the Aztecs are by far the oldest team left in the field. They start two fifth-year seniors, two fourth-year seniors and a true junior. The Aztecs also have major experience off the bench.
The nucleus of this team has played together for a long time even though Darrion Trammell and Jaedon LeDee are transfers. The players have unbelievable chemistry together, and they play off each other well.
We saw that come to fruition against a young Alabama team in the Sweet 16. The Aztecs aren’t going to get rattled by other team’s runs. They are mature and physical. When it’s a rock fight in the final two minutes, I trust the Aztecs to have the mental toughness to get through the finish line.
The Aztecs are the best defensive team at the Final Four. They rank fourth nationally in defensive efficiency and rank second in defending the 3-point line.
Florida Atlantic, UConn, and Miami are all loaded with outside shooters. The Aztecs have the athletes on the wing to make those shooter’s lives miserable. Nathan Mensah, the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year, is averaging three blocks per game during the Tournament. He is capable of guarding the perimeter when switched onto guards and is elite on cleaning up the glass.
Lamont Butler is one of the better perimeter defenders in the Final Four. We just saw wing Keshad Johnson hold National Freshmen of the Year Brandon Miller to 3-for-19 shooting and Trey Alexander to 4-for-11.
Charleston, Furman and Creighton all had their lowest offensive scoring outputs of the season when they faced San Diego State in the NCAA Tournament. I think that trend is going to continue in Houston.
And finally their depth!
The Aztecs depth have really given teams problem and coaches a problem. It’s gonna be the key to them winning a national championship tonight.

Yet here they sit at +7.5, not saying you’re wrong just not sure Vegas is giving a gritty, hard nosed, defensive team that many points. Again I’m not knocking the peck. Just talking out loud best of luck tonight.

Man I hope you're right, I have SDSU+8000 and Fanduel won't allow me to cash it early. Hopefully it all works out
That actually a good sign if you believe in games being rigged (not saying you or I do for that matter). But in my experience EVERY time you can cash out early and profit the equity, I always made the wrong choice.

I have UConn +2600 for 2k to win $52k and they won’t let me cash out early either. So I just went on betrivers and bet 15k on San Diego state +8 -114. Might bet another 5k live on +10.5 and then another 5k on +13.5 if it’s available.

Damn that is a man with a plan. But why? What if UCON gets up 17 what then? Unless UCON literally just plays the worst game of their entire season and SDSU the best you should be able to hedge with SDSU no matter how the game is going late so why not just take the gift and let it play out. Congrats!

Its homer plays like the OP and SDSU757 (and a few others I won't name) that had to make you feel fairly comfortable with the UCON play. I didn't see one UCON fanboy, homer, local, etc hyping them up. Their body of work spoke for itself. Apparently as did that of the Aztecs. As I said they were incredibly lucky to even be there. Deserving but incredibly lucky. A lot of their come backs had less to do with the Aztecs and a lot more to do with poor coaching, poor shot selection, trying to grind out the clock, inability to execute and frankly just poor basketball IQ.
