I don't get why people would say this game was fixed. If it was fixed would they have allowed IONA to take a huge lead and then make it more obvious when BYU comes back to win? No. Let me tell you what happened. A Team ( IONA ) who runs runs runs and jacks up 3's all the time was hot in the first half. A Better Team ( BYU ) made one single adjustment and IONA kept jacking up 3's and getting pick pocketed every possession. BYU dominates with the adjustment and being the better team and wins the game.... VERY COMPLICATED CONCEPT HAD TO BE FIXED

Yeah, Iona goes up 24 in the first half knowing they were fixing the game so they would have to totally shit the bed in the 2nd half & make things look obvious. If I were the crew that paid them to fix the game I'd be pissed they made it look that way. LOL. We all know point shaving happens occasionally in CBB, but if your shaving points you don't do it the way this game played out. Look at the Auburn situation. Nobody posted shit about the two games that guard supposedly threw & do you know why? Because 99% of us didn't suspect a damn thing until after the fact. People have dissected those game since then, but not until after the fact.

I don't think this game was fixed.  just a massive choke job. this is college sports not the pros. having watched college sports for a long time nothing surprises me....these collapses, surprises are commonplace. these are kids... they make a ton of mistakes, the pressure gets to them and the talent level is very diverse. that's why it's so much fun to watch!

ps  if you do fix a game, you do not fix such a high profile game with the president in the front row and national type coverage.

I don't think the kids threw the game but the officiating in 2nd half was clearly HEAVILY biased towards BYU.  The frustration led to Iona being even more frazzled making matters worse.  What a joke that 2nd half was.  No, it's not sour grapes...I did just fine $ tonight.

Washington managed to cover....but large part of that game was biased against them if anyone cared to notice.  2nd game in a row they got screwed.....not a Wash fan....just saying what I saw.

Hell, half a dozen games last week were officiated so bad (one-sided) they weren't even watchable.  Every guy in the sportsbook I was at noticed it.

Before someone mentions it, no I don't think every game I lose is fixed & none of them I win are fixed....blah blah blah.  It is something we all have to deal with...it should even out anyway.

yea fixed because its crazy to think that a coach and team would actually make defensive adjustments at the half. Most teams just party at the half being up by Double digits. crazy college kids.

Took words right out of my mouth At halftime Iona and Over was a so called LOCK  . They win THIS game and it flies Over   go to the window.
Then the Whats going on . THIS IS FIXED .People it is called Halftime adjustments   .You dont count your money till the clock says 00 .It happens everyday and everyday you hear  that game was fixed. lately I have read about so many fixed games that if I really thought it was true I would not be betting on this sport. I would advise anyone who thinks all these fixes are happening in such a way that we can notice it for you to take up another hobby .It was a bad beat it sux but happens everyday

But, I think its a joke that people say sports arent fixed or gambling in sports doesnt happen???

ITS BEEN PROVEN!!!

People have gone to jail!!!

People have been excluded from the hall of fame!!!

Kids have been kicked out of school, colleges have lost scholarships...

Yet, day and day people on here say sports arent fixed and players dont gamble, WHEN IT HAS BEEN PROVEN MANY TIMES IT DOES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What else will it take for people to admit it???

More people in jail???

More schools investigated???

Wake up....how can people possibly say it doesnt happen, WHEN MULTIPLE TIMES IT HAS BEEN PROVEN IT DOES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

To call this guy an "idiot" just doesnt make sense to me.  We have all seen sports shaving occur and PROVEN and investigated, and yet people still say it doesnt happen

the problem is Iona slowing the game down.  Yes, it gives BYU fewer possessions to catch up, but it takes Iona out of it's game.  we see this all the time this time of year with teams.  they get a lead and then sit on it and try not to lose and they get out of their gameplan and lose the game.

they work the shot clock down to 8 secs, THEN try to run offense and they get off no shot or a bad shot.  they dont make the defense work but 8 secs

and when things start to go against them and the lead starts to slip, they get tight and nervous and things really blow up

this thread is dumb....byu realized they couldnt play man and run with the more athletic team so they switched styles.........its not a fix, its called an adjustment...thats why the coaches get paid the big bucks

Why don't you all watch the last 5 minutes of that game and tell me that there wasn't point shaving to ensure IONA didn't cover -8.5.

We don't live in Wonderland, Alice.  This is corruption and sometimes it's very, very obvious.  These kids have to make a buck too, I guess.  LOL. 

I've been watching ball for 30 years and I never sen anything like last nights collapse that I had to write about it.  This morning I find out that its the biggest deficit flip flop in NCAA tournament history.

Not sure the FBI wants to put a cloud over the Tournament, but just like the Auburn pointshaving we will find out some time down the road.

How many times have you seen Iona play?  The M.O. on them is they are a first half team.  I learned my lesson the hard way when I bet on them vs. Siena earlier in the year.  This team is notorious for giving up leads and scoring less points in the 2nd half vs. the 1st.  BYU adjusted their game plan.  Fix??  No way.  If you want to see a fix, watch the Oakland U's last game in the Summit League Tourney.  Some decent posters here brought up a lot of good data points. 

Iona has 2 potential NBA players on the roster.  No way they are ruining potential NBA $$$ down the road to make 20k or so on one game during a 2nd half bet in the biggest game of their college careers.

Iona wanted to make it look like a fix by scoring 55 in the first and then throwing the 2nd half. You fuckn dumbass!!! Just because you lose a game doenst mean its fixed... another moron who lost a bet.. by the way take Quinnipiac plus 4.5 tonite... good luck all! I just hope it aint fixed

Maybe it wasn't a fix but I'm with ya OP, as in it was at the very least suspicious.  Iona pretty much quit in the second half.  Sure adjustments are made and fatigue may have been a factor too but that was so ugly after such a great start that I can see your point of view.

  Yes, I had $50 on Iona ml not the end of the world by any means but still a horrible beat to WATCH. Sure, see the box score and it wouldnt look as shady but that was just weird shit.  No drives to bucket to get to line, no pressing..etc. why quit your gameplan when it was dominating the game,  sure byu wanted to play their game but why cave in to them and play so soft and timid?  Doesn't make much sense.  Oh well, just my 2 cents- good luck all.

One of the dumbest posts ever.  Scariest part is he's serious.  Yea, lots of times when games are fixed you get out to a 25 point lead so you have to look like the Bad News Bears in the 2nd half to loose.  Maybe the fixers had Iona.over in the 1st half (better yet maybe BYU threw the 1st half) then they all whipped around in the 2nd half and went Under/BYU knowing they had Iona in the bag for the stretch run.

No way Iona could keep that pace up for 40 minutes against a decent team.  Their effort was unreal in the 1H, on both ends of the floor.  Unfortunately for them, there was not enough gas left in the tank.   Then, when the shots stopped falling, and as the lead shrank, they played tighter and tighter and that was their ultimate demise.
