New Mexico played about as poorly as it could possibly have played Saturday @ Viejas, but a trip to Laramie is not a desirable bounceback game. Wyoming looks lost offensively without Martinez. Gun to head, Lobos win a nailbiter with either Snell or Williams carrying the load, but neither side is remotely appetizing. Take the under if you need to make a play.

Any thoughts on texas a&M miss state? I like the Umass pick as i feel lasalle is due for let down. And i feel the north western pick is good too with Indiana on deck. Not to mention the revenge they will want after being scrubbed at NW last time.

Northeastern has played so damn well lately. I hate saying a team is due, but that's how I feel.
And Saturday Pitt takes 'Cuse at home? What do you think...
Ughhh. Not a fan of that matchup for Georgia State. Northeastern has the ballhandlers to deal with the press and the shooters to light up the zone. I backed NE in the CAA opener at Mason early in the month, but then went the other way on Sunday in the rematch. Didn't work out well. But...Northeastern is 2.5 up on second-place JMU and has preseason favorite Drexel on-deck, so if there's an opportunity for a letdown, it probably has to happen tonight.
Pitt will be -3.5/-4 on Saturday and will beat 'Cuse by a decent amount.

turnstone, i know you are asking jfen but i wouldnt make a play on a team that you feel is due. imo its better to take hot teams and theres alot to choose from tonight..if you capped it and like the game then make a play...but again, would go strictly on the due angle. bol

Nailed my angles on Northwestern. This is uncharted water for Michigan, and as good as this team is, ascending to that prestigious #1 ranking is never helpful. Northwestern's unorthodox style keeps them around for 40 minutes, IMO...
Hate UMASS. A lot. No discipline, awful shot selection, and an unsubstantiated reliance on the long ball. But speaking of uncharted waters - La Salle hasn't been relevant on a national level since '91-'92. If they win this game by DD's, fine. I'll deal with it.
Can't touch A & M tonight. They've fallen apart since that inexplicable win at Kentucky. Speaking of Kentucky, the 'Cats are coming to College Station on Saturday for A & M's biggest home game of the year. It doesn't really matter how "bad" Mississippi State is this season - the Aggs are just not backable tonight in this spot.

JFen, I'm one of four people who acknowledge being a Penn State basketball fan. I like Chambers who, as I'm sure you know, is a Philly guy. But the loss of Frazier has me domoralized. In addition, the repeated near misses in recruiting has me wondering if Chambers can ever get it turned around. What do you think? Also, early thoughts on UM-IU. I'm really starting to buy into the Wolverines, especially as their young players get more seasoned. Thanks.

thanks J for the input. Forgot about the kentucky game coming up for A&M. BOL to you on your plays tonight. I'm going to add northwestern to my plays as well if i can still get them at 17. If not i'll just sit it out and watch lol.

I really, really like Chambers. He's a high-energy guy and his team plays sooo damn hard. As you said, though, there's a serious lack of talent, especially in the frontcourt. Newbill was a nice pickup, and I think they will get quality play out of Pitt transfer John Johnson next season. The primary issue, though, is that Chambers has to compete with the Philly schools for city kids. It's awfully tough to convince solid Philly guys to pass up Temple, SJU, La Salle, Rutgers, etc to go play three hours away in an empty building. Sure, he can "sell" the B1G, but as you know, Philly kids don't really identify with that league the same way they might with, for example, the Big East. That said, Chambers has the local ties and work ethic to right the ship. Will they ever become a consistent powerhouse? No, but a few seasons comparable to DeChellis' final year with Battle, Brooks, Jones, etc doesn't seem out of the question.

And yeah, Michigan can go into Assembly Hall and win on Saturday. UM is flat-out better than Indiana. But that atmosphere...yikes. Should be a tremendous game.

Pitt to beat cuse? They dont have very good guard play and struggle to score quite often
Don't have good guard play? It's the strength of our team.
Not to mention Syracuse is down 2 bigs. Southerland and Coleman. Both of whom can rebound and have fouls. They replace with Grant, a freshman, and Keita who is hack. Foul trouble could be in line for Syracuse.

i felt the same way when they played ohio state, however it was early in the season and one of their if not their first true road test. Maybe a repeat of that game happens in Indiana?
Also going back to A&M , for some reason, i feel they right the ship today. Im on them tonight. Again BOL to you and thanks for your input again.

Always good to hear from you, bud. I've been waiting for Pitt to put it all together and think this is the game in which it finally happens. Dixon has had success against Boeheim in previous years, and with the absence of Southerland and Coleman, 'Cuse has lost much of its depth. Pitt's frontcourt - namely Adams, Taylor, and Zanna - will bludgeon 'Cuse on the offensive glass. Patterson will be a big asset along the baseline and at the elbow. Main concern is Pitt not turning it over.

Did someone really say Syracuse was a down a player with Coleman? He plays 2 minutes in any big game. Southerland is a big loss but Grant has stepped it up and will be the star next year. I do agree with Jfen I think SU will lose Saturday. I think the line will be more like Pitt -1.5
