Huge revenge game. The illini were up by 20 last time they played on Jan 11th, and lost in OT 104-97.
The illini have shown improvement since then. Brad Underwood has got these kids believing in what he's preaching. Even if it's by screaming or borderline psychopathic rants, it's coming through.
Meanwhile Iowa just spanked NW. How good was that beat down? NW came in deflated, they've had a disappointing year. Vic Law didn't play and McIntosh re injured his shoulder early in the game, sitting out on the bench with ice on it. Iowa won by 7.
What have they done before that game? Lost 6 straight games after beating a pathetic and injury plagued Minnesota team.
The illini packed extra clothes when they left for the Rutgers game to avoid going back home and then back east. They've been practicing at some gym in New York(I forget the name, read it earlier) Coach is taking this tournament seriously, he's a competitor. Moves like this remind me of how NFL teams will stay out west to avoid unnecessary travel.
So since Sunday, the illini have had the luxury of no friends, no teachers, no girl friends, no distractions. Just a hotel room, and basketball practice.
Fran McCaffrey of the Hawkeyes hasn't won a tournament game since 2013 and is 2-7 in Big10 tourney games.

Tough proposition. Iowa has the worst rated defense amongst big10 teams since the kenpom era began. On offense they play fast and put up a lot of shots.
Underwood wants his team to play faster than they have been. If you remember w/ Okie st they played in the 80's and 90's regularly.

The under could come in, but you'd be banking on a brick city display by both teams and fewer foul calls than average.

Love the angle, team bonding is at an all time high in these moments. Happens all the time in the NHL when teams go on west coast road trips, stay in hotels for days and upset a couple teams. Not like this would be considered an upset but still. Good luck bud.

I watch a lot of BigTen baskets...Illinois fouls a lot- they were a tough matchup for lots of BigTen teams. Ohio state had trouble running offense sets against them- they won’t sit back and let IOWA have the 3 point line
But I don’t see enough offense for Illinois to pull this out and if Illinois fouls Iowa’s backcourt it’s two freebies

Illinois brutal to watch man. These kids are just flat or afraid to drive in Iowa. 7/8 on free throws against 24/29. Outrebounded 14-25 and then foul when they can’t get the ball. This game is brutal to watch
