There are two games on the Summit League schedule to day. These are the semi-final rounds with the winners going on to fight for the automatic birth to the big dance. The lines have not yet been released but I will give my impressions the same and suggest a line for both games. I will discuss them in the order of when they play starting first with WIU vs. OR:
This game really interests me because I honestly think that WIU can win straight up against OR. I took WIU +4 yesterday and they won straight up and I am pretty sure I will be taking the points in this game too. I project the line at OR -8.
Lets talk motivation for a second. OR likely has an at-large bid given that their current RPI is 39. You cannot say the same about any other team in the entire conference (SDSU is 57 but I don't think they get an at-large bid no matter what). Therefore, as shown against a really bad IPFW team it does not seem like OR has the motivation to cover a big spread when the other team will be clawing for every point they can get.
WIU has a very good defense. They have the reining two-time conference defensive player of the year. He will be guarding the conference player of the year for OR. I don't think he will shut him down but I think that he will make him earn every point possible. Plus Dominique Morrison had a really forgetable game against IPFW on Saturday so I don't know if his head is not screwed on right but he will be pressing this game and frustrated.
The last game against WUI he shot 5/14, 4 fouls and 17 points. The prior game he did play better and shot 9/17, 3 fouls and 27 points. However, this prior game WUI decided to get into a track meet with OR and lost that game 71-70. I really don't think you will see a game like this tonight as they will slow it down, use the clock, set up for a high percentage shot, or try to draw a foul.
Additionally, due to the style of play and defense WUI doesn't get blown out very often. They have only lost by more than 10 points give times this year (three in conference and two out of conference). They also only lost by 4 at Michigan earlier this season in a very low scoring game.
In the past six matchups the following has been the results:
61-51 OR; 71-70 OR; 69-57 OR; 71-58 OR; 74-62 OR; and 64-62 WUI. However, WUI is 4-1-1 against the spread during this six matchups.
I am setting the line at -8 to -9.5 somewhere in that range. I don't think that the line makers are going to give another doubl digit spread for OR the rest of this tournament and for good reason. As everyone knows Oakland got upset last night and I could easily see it with WUI today too. They looked real hungry against NDSU who did give it their all too.
I have not comment on the first half but I always lean under with this team no matter what given their style. I will be back shortly with the SDSU thoughts. Once the lines are released I will also post my actual plays.

Just as I got done typing they release the line at OR -8 and over under at 115.5. I was hoping for more points so I will be posting my play closer to game time but I will be on WUI or not at all. I am hoping to get at least 9 by tip.
My play will be WUI +8 or +9 for 1 unit but if the line gets to 9.5 or 10 it will be for 2 units.
Scratch my lean to the under. 115.5 is low and could easily go over or under based on who dicates the tempo to this game (which I still think will be WUI). BOL!

The SDSU line is -12.5 with a total of 132.5. Well I am going to switch gears here for a second and talk about the total. Honestly this is way too low. This is the lowest Jack total all year round since the Western Illinois total and I explained in great detail why those total are low. I was expected closer to the 140 range where almost all Jacks games end up. I know that SUU expended a lot of energy playing OAK last night which is why perhaps the total is low and the line is so high but still this total is way too low.
To give you a prospective the Jacks game total has gone over 132.5 every game this year but two games (Western Illinois game was 131 but the game total was 121 and IPFW was 117 mostly because IPFW only scored 47 points.
Last night was the first time that a Summit League total went over but I don't see how this does not go over. The trend has been for the totals to drop but I don't think I am going to risk this one rising therefore before we even begin discussing the side I am going to put 3 units on the 131.5 total over.

I doubt there will be an at-large for oru, according to lunardi still outside looking in.
Lets just say I disagree. If you look at the non-conference wins they had including some pretty damn good teams I think that the committee cannot ignore this team.

Nice write up! How have you been doing lately? I'm with you all the way on WIU!
I lost with OAK last night but other than that I have only had one Summit League loss. Of course now that I said that I will probably jinx the $hit out of it. I am not here to get anyone to tail me. I am just posting my info, angles and thoughts and everyone can make their own mind up. BOL!

I put the line out at SDSU -7.5 last night. Perhaps that was a little wishful thinking so that I could take the Jacks. 12.5 is a lot of points. I am thinking about sitting out the first half and playing SDSU 2H if the game unfolds the way I expect it too.
SDSU is well rested but SUU is not. I think SUU will give it their all and believe they can win. I think they will probably play a hell of a first half but I think ultimately the Jacks with fresher legs, the crowd behind them and just frankly being a better team will pull away in the 2H. The last two matchups (both from this year) the 1H score was: 28-25 SDSU and 32-31 SUU. The final scores in those respective games were: 66-56 SDSU and 75-68 SDSU. Clearly a tail of different halfs. Don't get me wrong if SDSU has a big 1H lead I don't expect them to give it up for SUU to go on much of a 2H run either I just want to see how the 1H plays out before making a play on the side.
If I had to pick a side right now I would go with SUU +12.5 because I am always wearing of laying double digits. I think SDSU wins between 9-15 but the 1H will really dictate this outcome. BOL!

only 1 person you know that knows wiu, and I know he is on the over 115 very big.
Interesting. I thought that total was low too. BOL to him but I cannot play WIU over (even though I did once this year) but I damn near $hit my pants watching that game and their slow down offense.

They beat an Xavier team that was missing it's entire lineup. Who else did they beat?

They beat or hung with every no conference team they played... SMU, Florida International, Missouri State, Xaiver (who was ranked #8 at the time), Texas Tech, AR Little Rock are all who they beat... they lost by 6 at Gonzaga and 14 at Oklahoma. So the way I look at it only Oklahoma had their number.

I like your thoughts on that SDSU Over. I was also on that W. Car/SDSU Over too. I expect SDSU to control the tempo with this game being so close to home.

One other thing... you can only play what is on your schedule and OR beat everyone but two teams and only one loss was a bad one. This is a good team (as is SDSU by the way) but we shall see what the selection committee does. I do think OR will get in no matter what but I don't feel the same about SDSU.

did you go to any of the games jesron? I was in SF on Saturday and town was full of SDSU fans. My oldest son wanted to go, but we were just down and back for a basketball tournament in Brandon.

No I didn't but I am going for both Men's games today. My wife's birthday was last Thursday and I could not convince her to go with me. I am in Sioux Falls this afternoon so when that event is over I will call it a day and go to both games tonight. BOL!

As do I Jesron. You bring great analysis in your niche Jackrabbit angles. I really enjoy your stuff. I haven't a clue on this team and wouldn't if not for you. Tailed your last Jack play an made out quite well. Even if it didn't, never a regret with you. Solid.
