Whichever is the first rule that applies...

1.  Bet on any school with "State" in the name west of Oklahoma

2.  Bet on all SEC schools 

3.  Bet against the whole B10 

4.  Bet against the whole ACC

5.  Bet on the Big East

6.  Bet the underdog

What if rules three and six don't go together. Example TCU versus Michigan State.

Those schools out west are never rated that highly (most of them are "little brothers")  but they all have good coaches and QBs.  The QB is very important in a Bowl game, unless their is a physical mismatch between the teams.


The SEC has 6 of the top 10 schools, and maybe the top 6 schools period.  The other 3 (MIss St, Miss, and Vandy) are top 25 at worst.  This conference lives football 12 months a year, which means they will all show up for the Bowl.  If I had to make an exception, I might bet against Miss St.  They seem to be a little off this year.

The bottom 6 B10 teams this year are worse than the top 6 teams in the MAC this year.  B10 has tough traditional bowl matchups and with no Ohio St and Penn St, the rest of teams are playing in a bowl a notch or two better than what their talent dictates.

The same goes for the ACC.  After the top 2, there is a huge dropoff.  And Clemson and Florida St are talented, but not top 10 caliber.  Clemson has a underperforming defense and Florida St an underperforming offense.   

The Big East is not great, but they are better than the average B10 or ACC team.  I think there is usually line value in backing BE teams, because a lot of people assume they are the worst BCS conference top to bottom.  Teddy Bridgewater is a top QB and if healthy he will have a big day win or lose.  Pitt is playing its best football now they have everyone healthy.  Cuse is also on a roll.  Not sure about Rutgers or Cinci...

Those rules does make sense  I'm already following some of them even before you mentioned them.

Interesting post.  Agree for the most part.  I do, however, lean Bowling Green over San Jose State.

7. Never wager on a team who's HC's name rhymes with either His Fault or Cocky Dong. They will likely be either 1-5 or 1-5-1 ATS in Bowl games.

 Tom O'Brien is 8-1 ATS in his last 9 Bowl games and would have been a nice dog play against Vandy.

i dont think michigan STATE is west of Oklahoma, therefore TCU

Good way to see the BOWLS... i am more oriented to your last rule... GO to the underdog...  not always true, but 60% or more is true!

I learned that when i lost so many games years ago with the "champions" not the underdogs...!

I don't like being against you on any pick, but SJ St is one my top 3 picks, system or not.   BOL to you, I hope you sweep the rest of your card.

not sure about ASU.. Another rule is generally to back the armed forces in bowl games, especially against schools like ASU who come out undisciplined after a long layoff
