I don&#x27;t think it&#x27;s Golden. D&#x27;Onofrio was not able to prepare to safeties to play on 10 days rest. Inept coaching. Coley lost the plot in 2H. He decided he was going to sit on the lead from the first FG, and he never changed his tactics when they were down 7pts. Maniacal behavior. I&#x27;ll think twice before I back him again. Clueless.

Down two scores, going for the touchdown is the CORRECT play. You need a touchdown and you are at 5, 8, 13 yards away from the end zone. You have your higher % chance of scoring the TD you need at that point then you do if kick a FG, get an onside kick/stop on D, get the ball back, and put yourself back in that situation of being 5, 8, 13 yards away from said TD that you need.

There were so many 3rd down run plays called. The only strength of cincy&#x27;s defense was their run game. They would have annihilated if they took advantage of cincy&#x27;s poor secondary.

Kicking the FG would have left them down 8 with lots of time to spare. Unless they lost confidence in the kicker, seems to me a strange call to go for it on 4th down there. Glad they did though, I had Cincy +7.5 and ML, he he.

when Miami was down 7 in the 4th qtr is when they should of went for it on 4th down instead of them kicking the fg. As the game was being played out the fg was meaningless. However when your down 11 and u need 2 scores u must kick the fg. Unless your on the 1 or 2 yard line maybe u can take a shot not on the 5yd line

No interest in the game last night,but its probability.A FG from that distance in like 95-99% likelyhood and you close lead to 8 with option of onside kick or trying to stop. Going for it like Miami did was probably a 30-40%probability and if you turn ball over you almost guarantee loss as they did.Steeler coach experienced a similar fate with probability.

Capper -You NEED a Touchdown. You have no better opportunity to score that TD then when you are there in the redzone. The probability to score the TD you need is way higher in that moment, then the probability of kicking the FG, getting the ball back(onside or stop other team), then getting yourself back in the position to score said TD. The correct play is to try and score the TD regardless of that fact that you also need a FG.

What planet did you learn to play football on?First off , there is a ton of time left on the clock. Second, the goal is to extend the game as long as possible, you never know what can happen while cincy is trying to run clock and if they up one score they wil get even more conservative. Thrid all night long you havent got in the endzone from short yardage, and with the shitty behind db cincy has you probably got a better shot on a long pass play.Last but not least, A fg give you at least 3 more options to tie the game, not getting the td on 4th down game overONLY A F ING MORON AND AL GOLDEN WOULD THINK THAT WAS THE RIGHT CALL ..

With 5:30 left in the game, down 11 points facing 4th and goal, Miami's win probability was 9%.

Making a FG and being down 8 with 5 minutes brings their win probability to 13%.

Scoring a TD and being down 3, assuming they make 2, brings their win probability to 33%.

Both of these scenarios assume Miami gets the ball back at their own 37 yard line with 2 minutes left.

Great thread.   A credit to Covers.There is no right answer.  Most coaches probably kick there.  Some don&#x27;t.  He didn&#x27;t.  Frankly, I took far greater issue with about 20 OTHER Miami play calls on the night.  They look poorly coached.  I suspect they&#x27;re about to get a new one.  Maybe UVa will take their old one.  Hope not.

miami kicker is a stud.  flat out!!!!you go for a TD inside the RedZone.   knowing that on the "2nd drive" you have a 60yd FG (ball on 43) in your pocket.   With the ball on the 43, Badgley is a higher probability for the final points than a hail marry.
