Payne we were able to "replace" with Williams fortunately, however those other three spots were filled with players not near as talented.

Eh it's not like im just comparing depth charts, I watched/broke down the film of what happened the last time these two teams met. Like I said, it didnt tell all that much, since niether starting QB was in the game. Clemson showed they'll be able to limit the Alabama running game, as well as create some pressure for Tua...
Clemson's oline was dominated and their WR's didnt make plays... Luckily for Clemson, they have an elite QB, two elite Wr's , and Travis Etienne at RB (he was knocked out in the 1st quarter) This Clemson offense is 10x's the unit they were when they played last year. On top of that, Alabama's defense isint as good as they were a year ago.
Clemson may be able to slow down the Alabama running attack, but now that Tua is playing QB, it's going to be interesting to see if they can slow down the passing game.

There's also a lot of talk about how he's a true freshman. This isint even worth mentioning, not only did this kid start 54 high school football games, but he's actually played more college football then all 4 of the other playoff QB's... Ian Book, Murray and Tua actually have less experience than TL...Lawrence averages more yards per attempt, than every other QB. Perhaps the biggest impact is that Lawrence gets rid of the ball faster than every QB in the ACC, which is almost a full second faster than Kelly Bryant who had the slowest release time....
Aside from the QB position, Clemson's WR corps is also significantly better. They already had superstar Hunter Renfrow, but now the have future 1st rd picks,Tee Higgins, and Justyn Ross. If that wasnt enough, they have an additionl 5 star WR in Kendrick and though Rodgers was only a 4 star, his 4.41 40 laser time, makes him very dangerous. Both teams have great weapons, but I believe Lawrence has the better WR weapons and the better pass catching RB. Even though TL is a master at spreading the ball around, he doesnt have a TE to utilize, where as Tua has one of the best TE's in the country. Most avg fans dont understand how much easier it is for a QB that has a TE. The reason being is that TE's can indicate the coverage the defense is in for the opposing QB. Watson loved putting Leggett into motion, bc if he was followed that meant it was man coverage, and he could always throw a jump ball to his big TE.

Yea, great thread. What I’m confused about is the absolute torching South Carolina gave the Clemson D during rivalry week. This same USCe scored 0 against UVA in the bowl game. Please explain the problems that occurred there. Thanks

Sorry I didnt get back to you, but it was a max bet Clemson +6 and then I had a max bet on Justyn Ross having over 56 yards, another bet on Ross over 3.5 receptions, Higgins over 64 yards, and Trevor Lawrence over 249 yards passing

I was obviously a little concerned about the south carolina game, but ultimately every team has a game like that eventually.... Luckily because Clemson returned their entire defense, there were two full seasons of dominant defense. Clemson has two elite CB's (Trayvon Mullen and AJ Terrell both 5 stars) unfortunately they dont have great safeties. Clemson probably overlooked South Carolina but the bigger issue was they were having trouble getting lined up. Clemson had an almost identical performance in 2016, in the ACC championship game VTech scored 35 points and gained almost 400 yards- the next week they played Ohio State, and won 31-0.
IMO people were putting way too much stock in the SC game, after that everybody was talking about how weak Clemson's secondary was, (despite being the #1 defense in back to back seasons)
Nobody mentioned that Georgia held Tua to 150 yards and 2 int's, Miss State held him to 164 yards and 1 int.... Everytime Alabama played a quality defense, Tua was a liability.
