how good is the clemson qb i think this would be a tough game for the guy unless he is really good. I am just curious i am sure you are better at this than me i was just dead set on taking tech and you have put a wrinkle in my plan.

I like Parker...yes he is a true freshman, and that is cause for concern...but this guy is a legit talent...he moves around good enough for me and has a big time arm...I just hope and dont think he will need to show it tonight...You can argue this statement both ways, but what does it say about a guy if he is playing as a true freshman at a decent school like Clemson?

MrHeadache, I am always intrigued by your write-ups and your picks, however, I respectfully disagree with your decision.
 
I don't think you can put any barring on last week's matchup.  Granted, Georgia Tech didn't have a killer instinct.  However, they were up 31-7 at half time.  Jonathan Dwyer did not play in the entire second half.  Roddy Jones was out for the entire game.  Tech would have won by 30-40 points if both of these played and played the entire game.
 
As far as last year's game, right, CJ Spiller was out.  But let's not forget about Roddy Jones.  He was non-existent (only had 2 carries, 1 catch) and if I remember correctly, was partially injured.  This might be surprising, but Jones rushed for more yards than Spiller last year on far less carries.
 
And let's not forget perhaps the biggest mismatch for the game tonight.  Paul Johnson vs Dabo Swinney.  One of the best coaches in the ACC vs perhaps the worst coach in the ACC.

I am not putting too much barring on last week's games.  I am just pointing out the difference in talent between the two teams they each played...Just like GT, Clemson didnt have all their starters in the whole game either...its irrelevent...

whats relevant is the fact that sloppy play happened...and it falls into everything else I mentioned in my writeup...the offense is always behind the defense at this point...the offense did move the ball, but they fumbled, and I am just saying that the speed, size, and everything else is going to be a shock for GT if they dont get their heads screwed on tighter...Coach Johnson even said it...and I said you cant just have switch in college football that you can turn on and off...I am concerned about GT and the mental side to the game. 

 

With all that I will just end addressing your coaching remark...yes, you are right about the mismatch in coaching, but I have coached college football before, and I have been around some good coaches and let me put it to you this way...they all say the same thing before a big game, or any game..."I hope I did all I could do to get these boys ready...the rest is in their hands...how the game is decided is in their hands"

 

granted a coach can make adjustments, etc. but for the most part its all on the players right now...we will see...I respect Coach Johnson and think he is great, but I am not putting too much into this whole coach mismatch...they both have competent coordinators that have large opinions and say.

Parker is a RS freshman, but he is solid, just inexperienced

One other thing I would like to address that I have heard people talking about is how Clemson had 9 games to gameplan last year for this triple option and now they only have a short week.  Come on people, I played college ball, this is not true, so let’s not even address this crap.  Yes, there is a time difference for preparation from last years game to this years game, but its not like Clemson has not worked on defending this until this week.  Also, an important thing to remember from last year is this…Coach Tommy Bowden resigned right in the middle of that 9 day preparation period…this is something that needs to be looked at…it was both a distraction, and a letdown…that was their head coach, like him or not…and he left mid-week last year.

You PLAYED college football yet it isnt DIFFICULT to prepare for this offense? Why not ask ANYBODY that has to play NAVY and AIR FORCE about how it is to prepare for???

I guess thats why this line OPENED at 4', because Clemsons the better team but G Techs not HARD to prepare for in THREE DAYS?

Jackal - Clemson has spent a decent amount of time in spring and summer preparing for this offense, there is no doubt about that, and I believe that is the point Mrheadache was making

never said it was easy to prepare for...but Clemson is more familiar with it after playing against it already...its not new to them...its not like Ohio State last weekend against Navy...those teams dont play each year...thats different so dont try and compare them...

 

As far as your line and looking at that...come on...you know what the line is for right?  Just because its moving or it opened at this or that....doesnt matter...the line is there to get equal money on both sides of the game...dont read too far into all this line shit...its no wonder 98% of sports gamblers lose

ANYBODY that PLAYED ball KNOWS you have to keep to your DISCIPLINES to contain this type of offense. Even IF they worked on it all spring and summer ( I dont know why they would, or how much time they would put in seeing they play ONE team that runs it ?) You have to be CRISP in your ASSIGNMENTS!!!!!
