It's not unusual for someone to bet their one year savings on a game or blow their entire credit line. "if I lose this I will pay $20 a month more for the rest of my life (interest on credit line), but if I win I'll live like a king for the next month or two!". Been there done that. This is a forum of degenerates. $2K is really NOTHINHG in the perspective of big things.
LOL at that dude saying that I live in my mom's basement for being a "prospect". Come to Vegas next week and I will make a $10K bet in front of you, fking jagoff.

you ask if people are betting real $ and then you say you bet $200 a game
There's plenty of people that would say you're small potatoes yourself
no way i'm trying to claim what i am not. what i am is a casual/degen bettor with a family/job that has to save for the football season on the side so i can have some fun. i dont dip in to my business or savings to gamble, i stop when by seasonal fund is gone. i do have few friends that bet big but most are casuals like myself. its just that everyone on covers like to throw around 1, 2 even 3k like its nothing when average americans make 35-45k per year

BK hit the nail right on the head. It's all relative to your overall bankroll, and perhaps your net worth. In reality the amount of your wager is meaningless. A billionaire making $20,000 bets means almost nothing, right?
I know people who have lost 6 figures+ in a weekend, and don't sweat it, because they've amassed huge bankrolls and are wagering within their means. I also know people that wager $100-$300 a game. They are also smart people that don't want to risk their hard earned money. I respect both approaches, yet prefer the latter.
I'm somewhere in between these 2, looking for large edges, and putting my money down when I know I have the best of it. I know what it's like to win and lose large numbers in a day, and I don't like the big NEGATIVE SWINGS. Thus, I've learned to find my "comfort zone" making wagers that are small relative to my bankroll, yet large enough to make it worth my while.
I'm not sure if the people here tell the truth about their wagers. Who cares? Your concerns should be to make yourself a winning handicapper. When you've accomplished that task you'll see that the sky's the limit.
My suggestion is to never bet more than 1% of your gambling bankroll on any 1 wager. If possible, wager a fraction of this. You'll never sweat any single play, and if you're a winning player, the money will eventually come back if you run into a negative swing.
Good Luck

True story...a few years back, we went to Vegas for a buddy's bachelor party. The guest of honor brought along an American coworker..a supposed high roller. We hit Scores as soon as everyone landed...While there, I called in $100 bet to my bk and this friend of my buddy said to put in another $20 for him. A few hours later, I handed him $2k because we had just won the game and I knew he needed cash from his multiple runs to the ATM. The dude almost had an aneurysm because it turned out his $20 bet was really $20 without the typical unit multiplier. I really don't want to think how things would have turned out if we had lost the game.

Rich people like gambling to bro, ask charles Barkley, I've bet 15k on game before, pats chargers, I lost. I bet $100-$500 now, I wish I bet with fake money because I would have 100k still saved, now I have crap. I'm ghost betting lol
And when's the last time Barkley's been on this site. Thats the point he's trying to make. Who in their right mind would post on this lying childish site betting what he does. The answer is nobody. What would any one gain by telling a bunch of little kids what their bets are with that kind of money. If any one believes there's $20,000 bets being made on this site he is on a fantasy trip. No rich person would waste their time. PERIOD. The best way to make money on this site is to fade all GOY'S, all GOM'S ECT. ECT. and any kid who's putting his house, wife, children on a wager. It really is amazing how gullable some ppl. are if they're really believing some of these posts. GL

I wouldn't compare casino wagers with sports wagering, because the house edge at casino tables games can be on the order of 1/10 to 1/20 of the average sports book edge. Multiple your sports bet by 10 or 20 (or so) to equate to similar table games wagers. So the casino might make more $ from a 5K sports bet than a $75K blackjack bet. You're really comparing apples to oranges here. They're not the same.

I had a friend tell me "if I lose this bet I'm gonna jump off the balcony". It would have been a huge bad beat. The wager was $100 to win $400 to begin with. He is upper-middle class, married, has a college degree and a job in one of the nation's top firms. I laughed at him.
I also hear of people winning or losing 6-figures over a weekend like it was normal. I hear of them in private high stakes cardrooms. Business owners, degenerates, who knows.
A 10k wager is not "normal" from most people's perspective. But logarithmically it is right in the middle of things. So anyone who wants to see me place a $10K (or more) wager of REAL MONEY, come to Vegas next week and/or during the Bowl season. I will even buy you a drink
