Any reason for the Cal / Utah line move?

Went from 3 to 1.5 today...

Just wondering if anyone knows a reason for the move other than a money move (injuries, news etc).

    There not, but he's known for leaking them to the books first so they can adjust there numbers before he releases them to his clients. I wish I would waited to put my Cal play in, not happy about that.

DB marc anthony is doubtful for Cal. He is a big part of Cal's defense.

The reason for the line move is two of the sharpest groups in Vegas bet Utah.  

Very sharp money.

Also BTW - this game is in the GIants baseball stadium in SF - not in Berkely.

how ya been van --- think this line is just correcting itself.  Imagine some sharp money coming in on Utah, that's where I would have gone at +3 if I had made a play on it.  Now no play to be made IMO.

Can't justify the move, but kinda surprised anyone is interested in laying points with Cal here...

Maybe I can't get that Poinsettia Bowl from a few years ago out of my head

 Maybe beating Pitt otr was more impressive than getting your ass kicked the L3 games.............neither team is worth a spit.

      I know a group that made a huge move on Utah +3.5.However all this group does is "scalp". So even though they made a huge move on Utah @+3.5 it doesn't mean anything. All it means is that they will come back and play Cal @-2 at a different out. 

      That's why I don't bother getting caught up in line moves, it's all a guessing game. None of us really know what all these huge syndicates are really doing. So there is no way to really know why a number is being steamed. It very well could be due to "sharp" syndicate action but are they moving the number so they can come back and bet double on the "hot" side? It could also be professional scalping groups that have the ability to move lines with ease or a number could be eventually moved to heavy public action.

     Let's not also forget all the crappy handicapping services  that can move a line on there big releases. I.E. Dr. Bob's 3 stars, Kelso's 200's, Big Al's 5*'s, ASA's GOY, Doc's GOY and Phil Steel's 5*'s to name a few.These services are all so terrible I'm not even sure why books would even move the number on there top releases but most people do not realize that a lot of these services are in cahoots with the books so they will give the shops the game before they release it to there clients therefore the books can adjust the number before any of the public can play the game. 

   That's why I think that following line moves or reverse line movements  is a dangerous guessing game to play

If this game was in Strawberry Canyon, I'd be wagering irresponsibly on Cal.  But, it's not.  Hard to tell what sort of home field bump Cal gets at Pac-Bell.  It wasn't very loud for USC, but Cal didn't give them very much to be loud about. I think if both teams play well, Cal wins for fun.  However, Cal's QB play is terrifying and they seem to have one receiver who can catch the ball.  Still think Cal will win, but I'll stick to responsible wagering here.

Oh wow! It only took them 2-3 years to figure out the logistics to make that happen! Haha! Good info Van, I was unaware of this. That changes some things, but not much, would rather see Cal in their true home stadium to make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Agree with you and MaineRoad for the most part - but got sucked in when I saw a -2.

Listened to Tedford on the radio yesterday and he said it's tough playing there because it does not feel like a home game even though they are right across the bay.
