OK here we go. A lotta guys here give you a Special "Play of the Year" every week..then after it loses, another the next week. For "Double" Units. And so on...we all see it....sooner or later they'll catch one! WIN, LOSE, or DRAW this will be my one and ONLY NCAA GAME of the YEAR! Won't see another one. Not a big game on the board, won't catch it on National TV! I've been waiting since these two clashed last year (and watched a cheap shot take out a player on the 1st play of the Game!!) and afterwards told myself "if conditions are right..." wait till next year! Well, "next year" is here and the Midwest weather is exactly as hoped for, and not gonna change much by 7 pm Saturday. Read on...
Toledo has pretty much had it's way with Northern Illinois this decade: 11-2 SU since '92...and 8-2 ATS last 10, including 4-1 in the GlassBowl. Last year they strutted into Huskie Stadium fresh off their upset in the Ann Arbor BIG HOUSE! The trip was the beginning of the end for Coach Tom Amstutz. CB Desmond Marrow (who is questionable tomorrow) knocked out on the 1st play. QB Aaron Opelt knocked out in 2nd half (he's back!). Turnovers. 10 penalties for 85 yds. Final Score...NIU 38 Toledo 7
Northern had last week off while the Rockets put up almost 500 yds total offense and still got thrashed by Western Michigan. One of the stronger NCAA "System" plays: Play any CONFERENCE team off a SU loss of more than 7pts if they were favored by 7 (or more points) in previous Game. And lastly...if you've ever been at the Glass Bowl for a cold, rainy, NIGHT game...you know that city-of-lights advantage the Rockets will have. Sweet revenge...get the points early!
