Auburn/Arkansas St.

Question

Was looking at this line and was wondering some peoples thoughts on this game???  Im really leaning Arkansas St. as I belive the 30.5 may be a little "too many" for Auburn to handle 1st game of the season.  I was just looking for some insight from anyone who knows much about either team...thanks!

Auburn could probably name their score, but traveling to Starkville 5 days later may have Auburn calling off the dogs early. I would probably make it a no play. Good Luck

No play for me, should rest the first team after the 3rd qtr. with the road trip to Starkville coming up. Should be some good value though against Miss. St. next week. Would make a play on AU though if I had to pick.

I will confess that I haven&#x27;t really understood all the AU love here either.  ASU&#x27;s not awful, and the War (Goddamn) Eagles will probably need to flirt with 50 to cover.  Not saying it couldn&#x27;t happen, but I&#x27;d have to think there&#x27;s better options on the board.

It is certainly not a value at that number.  Although, if this game fell mid-season, Auburn would probably beat them by 50.  The gameplan will definitely be to get Cam Newton some valuable reps, but not throw anything too complicated out there.  Also, the first time playing collegiate football for several players.  If anything, it might be a good game to throw in a tease.

Auburn will cover this without a hick-up.... I dont see them giving up more than 9 points here and they will score at least 42pts... Auburns offense will be very explosive this year, and with the whole defense returning along with Zac Etheridge, who has been released by the doctors and refills his starting roll at safety, they will be very hard to score on! Also If they do pull starters early in this one, which they more than likely will, they have backups that are completely capeable to start on any given Saturday, so i love this play on Auburn and i think you should play them confidently!

Sorry, but Arkansas St. will put up at least 14-17 in my opinion, whereas I expect AU to put up around 49-56 pts.  Not much value in my opinion. Better games on the board, and Auburn should have some good value the next week against Miss. St.

Just like to point out this is Newton&#x27;s 1st game as QB for the Auburn Tigers.  He comes with much hype and has been in Auburn since last winter, so it&#x27;s not like he just arrived in the summer, but nonetheless he has never played a live game with this team or running this offense.I expect Malzahan to go very vanilla on offense for 2 reasons......1)to show as little as possible on tape and 2) ease Newton into running the offense.I can easily see a backdoor in this one as the AU coaches experiment on defense late in the game.  AU was terrible last year on defense due to razor thin depth at LB, but also injuries at DB.AU signed some solid defensive prospects this past January that will be relied upon heavily to provide depth this year, so you will see talented but green true freshman all over the field in the 2H going against ASU&#x27;s 1st team in order to get playing time.AU could name it&#x27;s score in this one if they wanted but there is no value in this play.  Pass &amp; look to Miss. St. game next Thursday night.

Great thread.  I agree Auburn will be vanilla on offense, but not in terms of it&#x27;s tempo.  I think there may be some value in a 1st half play.

saw a good bit of ASU last year and must say they are most anemic on offense.&#xD;&#xA;I bet they get no more than 10 pts. on the Plainsman.

AU will put up at least 49-63. Don&#x27;t know enough about ASU to make a play. AU&#x27;s second string QB Barrett Trotter would start for a few teams in the SEC so there won&#x27;t be that much of a dropoff at qb, actually the offense in general.

[/Quote]The Red Wolves have a new OC Hugh Freeze and will run a spread no-huddle offense this season.  Just thought you&#x27;d want know.
