Did some dd, and feel this number s/b closer to single digits… +9.5 is my thoughts after looking at some angles.
My thoughts…
Absolutely love Navy’s new coach Newberry…ex DC. ( much better thanND’s Freeman imo). Well prepared and meticulous. Returns 9 starters on defense …thinking defense shouldn’t skip a beat from LY. Ranked #3 in stopping the run, and have all 4 backfield players retuning…can’t get any worst right? He also mentioned that “disrupting Hartman is a top priority”.
Not sure what to think of new OC from Kennesaw. Plugging in a hybrid offense, but did mention that run option is still their backbone. Definitely have the QBs to excel in the new offense… Lavatai has a ton of heart & good arm strength (ACL injury LY, and coming back motivated) , while Horvath is smart/elusive as the running qb ( played ton of option plays qb in HS and RS)…can picture Navy moving the ball effectively on ND early
Key takeaway…
Navy has smart kids. Can’t count how many times Coaches kept saying how smart their kids. IMO that should bode well with the new offense along with focusing on what they can individually control on the field. Coaches also mentioned intangibles such as energy and heart (confirmed!)…9 out of 10X you combine a solid coach w/ kids who have heart & are smart, it usually equates to success in the field.
G/L Gents and as always do your own DD,

Could care less. Question is which Can we see more, Navy fold early, or Hartman have a bad game early?
Hartman will prob get deep looks, but long travel plus big stage could impact some of his ability. I thinks Navy’s strategy is to control the clock and prevent Hartman from getting in too many plays early. Just can’t imagine Navy going in unprepared.
