Why do you say that?
I'll keep this real quick.
First off, the line. 71% of the public on BS spread, 74% on BS moneyline and I even saw as high as 91% on BS moneyline yesterday. Line movement? Moves half a point at most and that's only at some books. Sharp books like Pinnacle don't budge an inch. That's one red flag.
Secondly about the line: When a team lays a touchdown-plus on the road, you're supposed to clearly be the superior team. You're not supposed to lay over seven on the road in an interconference rivalry game, in a revenge spot for the opposing team, where the WAC championship is essentially on the line tonight, especially against one of the top defenses in the nation. Go ask previously highly-ranked BYU what happened when they went into TCU.
Speaking of previous games, Boise State showed me exactly what they were last week against Hawaii. I didn't want to go there, but I will: they are overrated. Hawaii's Inoke Funaki had one of the worst quarterbacking performances I've ever seen in the second half of that game, throwing for 0 touchdowns and 5 interceptions, all of which were in the span of about 25 minutes.
But guess what? Hawaii had more first downs than Boise State, they won the time-of-possession battle, committed less penalties, didn't fumble the ball away like Boise, and they ended up covering the spread. If not for bonehead offensive playcalling in the first half, Hawaii would have actually had the lead at halftime instead of being down 10-7. Let me add that Boise State had the ball at around midfield or in Hawaii territory at least 6 or 7 times in that second half, and they only came up with 13 points. And that their field goal kicker definitely seems to be suspect as he missed two makeable ones after their offense was repeatedly given prime field position.
Lastly, that game was a big revenge spot for Boise State in response to last year's conference championship loss. They had newspaper clippings of that game posted in their weight room all year long; this was a huge emotional spot for them and they ended up looking flat at home on that disgusting blue turf. What most likely contributed to that was Hawaii's unimpressive record this season with a new quarterback and coach. When you look at it from SJSU's perspective, it's the complete opposite. Boise State is ranked in the top 15 nationally and it will be no surprise if they come out on fire with so many things such as revenge, pride and undefeated conference records on the line tonight.
When you pile San Jose State's ATS statistics onto that, you have a no-brainer here. This line should've been closer to a pick-em. The books are telling me that it'll be cool if SJSU loses by a touchdown tonight? That is more than cool with me.
