Can someone explain to me how there is a penalty on the offense with 1 second left....a PENALTY FOR 12 men on the field, which means that snap to stop the clock was ILLEGAL, yet they don't run that second off the clock.
From now on.....all you need is to have the center snap it and the QB down it....doesn't matter if the offense is set....if the coach is 15 yards out on the field....or if 15 guys are on the field.....just snap it, down it, take your 5 yard penalty.
I KNOW if this was the NFL the clock would have been run down to zero.
DAMN! I just rewound it to watch it again.
The ref said game over.
The coaches even shook hands.
Butch Davis said, "oh fuck," and was walking off the field in disgust"
WOW!
That's all I can say.

I thought the same, why no run off on an offensive penalty. what if it was a false start? does that stop the clock too. either they missed it or there is a major rule flaw

so they had to throw the flag for unc doing something illegal.
so do you expect them to keep the clock running while the ref turns on his mic, makes his hand signal for the penalty, and while he says "still 4th down"?
i didnt have action on the game, but i think the refs did a pretty good job.
the clock stops while the refs sort out the flag, and restarts when the ref blows the whistle.
the snapper snapped it as soon as the whistle blew.
i dont know the rulebook inside out, but i think it was pretty fair.

How about after the personal foul they put 26 sec on the clock go look at the replay there should have been 25 which means no time left didnt think a sec would nean that much lol

You also don't know football.
UNC was not set.....UNC was illegal....which means UNC should not have had the means to stop the clock.
Otherwise.....all you need is the center to snap the ball to the QB, take your 5 yard penalty, and the clock is stopped.

Yeah too bad our coach can't keep his cool enough to know that we should have elected to play offense first that way we could have erased the 15 yard penalty.
Giving UNC the ball on the 12.5 was a huge mistake.
Might had been different had we took the ball on the 40 and scored!

You really think UT should have took the ball on offense at the 40?
WOW.
And you tell other people they don't know football.LOL.
If the play would have happened in the NFL, 10 second run off, game over.
As it is, the play happened it CFB. UNC was penalized five yards and there was time left on the clock.
How hard is that to understand? Do you really understand and you're just mad your team lost? Or do you really not get it?

how about the BS call of a completed pass a play or two earlier? the ball clearly moved and the player landed out of bounds... a series of blunders by the refs

I tried to look it up in the rule book, but that mofo is 272 pages long and I've been doing some drinking
Thats hilarious...
But goscots is 110% right. From now on, just snap the ball and take the 5 yard penalty.....I was watching this game at the 99 and wanted to strangle someone.....I lost hard on UT......

Imagine completing a 50 yard bomb. Only the defense gets back along with the center and QB and they snap it anyway with the 9 nine players running up, then what?
Whatever the rule is, its a joke if the offense can snap it without being set first.

That is so true.
