Something to consider...last year in week 2 Ohio St beat Hawaii at the shoe 38-0...Now Hawaii has a new coach, playing on the mainland (never good ATS) against a Harbaugh coached team...I know coaches don't "officially" care about the spread, but do you think Harbaugh will keep scoring until the "perception" metric aka spread is surpassed...Will his ego have last year's Ohio St. v. Hawaii score in the back of his mind? Several years ago, as some of you know I sometimes played 40+ point spreads, and got mocked by several on covers. This is week 1...Mich will have a new QB...probably a no play, but several weeks ago I did consider Mich - chalk, due to the considerations above. GLTA Its right around the corner. LHH

Last year Michigan had three shutouts. (BYU, Northwestern, and Maryland) Now they have the DC who had the #1 D last year (Brown from BC). Nothing better than to start the season with a shutout. I see no back door cover here. And Hawaii's leading tackler, Tulimasealii, has been kicked off the team. They have a first time HC.
Michigan's QB situation is between Speight and O'Korn. Both very decent pocket passers. The summer competition between these two will only make them better. That's Harbaugh's plan.
In Harbaugh's last year at Stanford (2010) they opened the season with a 52-17 win over Sacramento St. In 08 they beat Washington St 58-0, so yes Harbaugh can run it up.
For me it's a no play. I got burned in 2013 taking CMU +31 in the first week as I was thinking Mich. would work on the run game. Nope, they had Gardner throw it all over the place, 59-9. So, if Harbaugh decides to "work on the run game" than it might be a Hawaii cover. But I doubt it as a new QB(s) needs to get his/their feet wet. Thinking both QB's may see time in this game.
With Hawaii traveling to Sydney then to Michigan no telling how they show up.

Great insights Uniman. I hate laying six touchdowns worth of chalk. So, I will wait for the Hawaii team total to be posted. Under just about any number seems about right, as I think Michigan will play for a shut-out

Not crazy....because the line 'should be' 35ish *but based on ridiculous travel woes by those Rainbow warriors (YES....it bothers young kids too...Circadian Rhythm you can't control)
5000 miles / 20 hour difference between Honolulu / Sydney *then about the same between Honolulu and Detroit (6 hour difference).....note: Hawaii has no money so they'll be going as cheap as possible too
If they put up a top effort vs Cal.....Michigan will murder them here *if not who knows
Harbaugh has had few real chances for blow-outs....I would imagine a 1H and or 2H play worth looking into *for me I'll check and see if Michigan starts slow / Hawaii close at halftime > then bet Mich huge (esp if Hawaii expended a lot of energy vs Cal)

Very good points all around. I wont be making a play before hawaii plays Cal....maybe not at all. Its gonna be 2 very tough games b2b with all the travel involved. If Hawaii can actually get a passing game going I think they can score a couple times as they have a decent RB....we shall see
