When I look around the forum I see people making a case for Georgia Tech covering and winning this game. Now I know that most of you think im just being a homer here and will blindly just bet on Clemson. Not true, if any of you know me you know that in the past I rarely even bet on Clemson and when I did...I hit on it. Well, they have covered what....6 straight weeks? Every week a new reason is made to why they wont cover. Why they cant win. Why this situation or that situation will be there un doing. Well as a long time Clemson fan I'm about to tell you why this train isn't stopping this week.
For many years now I think it's easy to look around at the most common sports bettor and they will tell you that Clemson has been a hard team to bet on. I agree whole heartily. Clemson for many years has showed let down after let down, time and time again. I mean I seen the times where we were favored big time one week and lose, then turn around the next week and knock off a FSU ( back in there hay day ). Tommy Bowden for 10 years held this program hostage with his piss poor coaching and lack of "give a shit" attitude. I think about 8 years ago the public ( All of us ) started getting tired of Clemson's shenanigans. They bailed on believing in anything Clemson related. Hey, us Clemson fans were right there with you. It has become easy this year for most of you to say, hey... Clemson is bound to fall this week. For good reason and I really cant blame you because of there track record. But things are changing and im about to tell you why.
As this game approaches it really has opened my eyes to what the truth is about this team and what they have become. History say Clemson Struggles in Atlanta Playing G.T. History has said this is where the Clemson tigers will fall flat and look like the old Clemson Tigers. But im here to tell you that history has NO ties with this football team. Clemson is no longer associated with " history anymore " Clemson is associated with NOW. This team has nothing to do with the past. Clemson and these players have nothing to do with what history has taught us. What History will teach us is that this Clemson Football team will change history. They will break down the past and change the future of Clemson football. I could give all of " Football " reasons to why they win this week.... But at this point, I don't think it matters.

That was one of the 1st games I was looking for,and when I saw Clem -4 I jumped fast. This clem teams is on a roll right now,and they know whats in store if they keep winning in the ACC. Plus G.Tech has not had that wide open pace they were on earlier this year, and the last couple games have eased it down a bit. I see Clem staying unbeaten here winning this by a td. Good Luck Boom

Dude, you are being about as unrational as possible about this game.
I rarely ever post on here and enjoy reading your weekly posts but....you need to re-read that last paragraph and I think you'll agree that you're not betting with your head here but rather your heart.

Another thing...everyone is saying how Clemson is putting lightning up the scoreboard and can't be stoped...True, their offense is playing lights out BUT if you take away those 2 defensive touchdowns last week what's the score...45-38, 7pt win. Maryland game...take away the kickoff return for a TD score is 49-45.
Look, I know defensive and special teams td's are part of the game but those are two things you can't count on week in, week out. I explained in Boom's other thread why I think Clemson is in a terrible spot but people need to realize that these games were much closer than they should have been. Also, giving up 290+ yds on the ground to Maryland (who got thumped by Temple and is ONLY averaging 168 per rushing) does not bode well against GT.

It doesn't really tell me why, but best of luck to you none the less.
It just sounds like you are selling the cover and the world doesn't need a sales pitch...you will be with the 90% majority this weekend as everyone bets Clemson. It hasn't been the wrong side in 6 games, so why stop now. Can't blame you for riding the train...though I might argue that 5 units as opposed to your typical 2 on them weekly is getting a little too progressive. odds are against you that they cover in this one honestly and you are willing to risk the last 2.5 games worth of winnings?
I'll sit this one out. Clemson is unreal and this line bothers me.

Do you watch the games or do you just look at the Box scores? Cause if you did you would have known that Clemson's defense gave up 17 points in that game. 7 points UNC had was from special teams..and the other 14 were against the 2nd and 3rd team defense with Clemson pulled there starters after being up 59 -24

Nope. If Clemson hadn't gotten the defensive scores, the second team wouldn't have played the 4Q, in which Clemson was outscored 14-0. The margin of victory probably would have been greater without the defensive TDs.

Forget the part about Temple, but otherwise you have a point. Maryland killed us with the zone read, and the problems Clemson has with the zone read translate into problems with Tech's offense.

Given the fact that GT has lost its last two games (one of them to Virginia of all teams. I gotta tell you the -4 line shocked the hell out of me. Now I know they are playing in Atlanta, but a team with the bandwagoneers (not you BOOM, mad respect for you) that Clemson has of late, seems to tell me that the line is indicative of a bounce back for the GT squad. I'm gonna go out on a limb and take the points. The BCS is gonna to shake it up some, just like it does every year. I believe that we will have at most 2 unbeaten teams come season's end (Boise State and the winner of LSU/BAMA, I see the National Championship Game actually being a replay of the classic November 5th game between LSU and BAMA. Weirder things have happened, but they were talking about this very subject today on "Numbers don't lie".
We can all agree that an unbeaten BAMA team and a one loss LSU team are still the best two programs at the end of the season.
My two cents...

didn't clemson give up nearly 300 yds rushing to WOFFORDS triple-option earlier this year?
this looks like the trap line of the year....everyone will be pounding clemson and thats usually when VEGAS rakes
no play for me
GLTY
btw..i hope clemson is undefeated going into columbia at the end of the year...i'd love nothing more than to see my lattimore/garcia-less GAMECOCKS ruin the undefeated season
no offense to BOOM

At this time of year, unbeaten road favorites don't do well against the spread, the books know it, and they shade the line accordingly. Teams and fans get really pumped up to beat an 8-0 or 9-0 team, and the home dogs tend to bring their A game. That's why this line looks short. Tech is probably going to play much better than they have the last three weeks.
I think Clemson wins and covers, but Tech is going to score. Maybe 49-38.

I was just reading your write-up and was looking for why you think Clemson covers...there wasn't even an angle there other than insisting history is not a predictor of the future...that's fine...maybe that's all you need.
Good luck...it will be a game to watch. I'll sit this one out and hope Clemson continues unbeaten...makes the BCS that much more interesting.

Here's the deal. The weakness of Clemson's defense is the safeties. Everett Withers came right and said it, and he's right. Clemson's DL is not what it was last year, there are issues with tackling, but the real problem is the safeties. How is Tech going to exploit that weakness? Washington can't throw the ball any more after the beating he's taken the last few weeks with everyone forcing him to keep the ball on the option.
