Ole Miss +17 Bama not interested in covering spreads; I would love to have the poise that Bama has --I mean they get down two TDs to Georgia or A and M and they just hang in there, find a crack...But seems to me this years squad allows the opposition to express themselves. Va Tech allowed a special teams TD and sacked McCarron 4 times; A and M went off for 40; Col St allowed a pedestrian game to the 4th qrtr....and on and on. Look for Ole Miss to dictate and not be overly intimidated. 17 is about 1 TD too much.
ASU -6.5 Look for a rough game from USC and likely down early which will put their young QB and o-line under pressure. Good defense on BC and Utah St, and they will have to have a 2nd H comeback IMO thT is fueled by the defense--but that is harder on the road

Early leans for a dull slew of games:

Quantum... I feel ya on this one. Alabama plays as if they don't need nor want to blow anyone out.. I think 17 might be a little much I would take BAMA at anything less than 14 but I will stay away from that one.

or maybe they are simply not quite as good as the last two Bama editions?

I'll just take Saban's words as fact, that this year's version of Alabama has not put in a complete game, and they still have a lot to work on to reach their potential for that complete game. Maybe they never get it either.

Insiders know that the exiting AD at USC decided to STICK it to USC by hiring that goofus Kiffin. FINALLY a team with enuff caliber to stuff the Trojans.
I will enjoy this game.
The only NFL game I enjoyed was the Miami Dolphins beating the Ditrty Birds. EPIC game. Tannehill is a former Tex A and M QB. If Manzeil > Tannehill, then Johnny Football is a career on Sundays.

Agreed that this Alabama edition to me is a combo of less coachable overall and less dominating at the o-line. Defense can also be exploited.
RE: USC
I still feel that there is no God when Utah St hits the friggin uprights on a FG attempt, and their buffoon coach doesn't trust his defense enuff to punt the friggin ball on 4th and 9 with nearly 4 friggin minutes left in the game with all 3 friggin timeouts. I understand being frustrated NOT to make that first down. Yeah, you wanted ONE MORE play. TUFF. USC is garbage, and Kiffin was hired to sabotage the USC program from within.
The best thing for USC is to lose to ASU. The more losing that goes on, the faster you can get rid of Kiffin. Seriously. USC players, just let these close games go. Get yourselves lined up for a decade of dominance with a new head coach. It starts Saturday. A loss to Utah St wudda started this train rollin earlier...

If u look at last weeks game wasn't one of his old coaches on the other side . Just classy on Sabins part.
Same with penn state a couple years ago he wasn't going to blow
Joe Pa out
Va Tech was pissed at being almost a 3 TD dog and played well.
Look for BAMA to roll here , but I prefer the first half.
You really think Saban was holding back? THAT is the definition of NOT doing your job. I seriously doubt that. I do think they run different plays based on the opponent. They try run straight up the middle on these kinds of teams. Yeldon was out the first half b/c he's a hot head street thug. These Alabama RBs are interchangeable. The names change, but just a diff ball carrier. They get recognition and pub and they get drafted higher--but theyre all busts in the NFL.They didn't run well. They will have to depend on an average passing game vs a good opponent. A good pass rush and decent secondary coverage, the Tide is cornered.
Col State got a million bucks for just playing the game. THAT is a win for their program. No other school pays as much.

Post #18: So what will prevent Saban from tinkering again?? They had a whole year to preoare for Manzeil and he nearly had a career day. Maybe this current Bama version is less coachable..
