FSU will be a national title contender and imagine if they go into this game undefeated, beating Alabama in Week 1. Regardless, they should be one of the top 4 FBS teams in the nation and that is all it will take for this line to be through the roof and beyond.
Delaware State on the other hand has this on its resume:
1) Winless last year.
2) 1-21 in their last 22
3) An FCS team from the MEAC, they are arguably the worst team of 253 FBS/FCS teams combined.
4) Missouri, in one of it's tumultuous and scandal plagued seasons ever, gave Delaware State -50 and won....79-0.
5) Delaware State are 5 TD underdogs this week...to Delaware....Delaware....5 TD's....imagine what FSU will lay.
I'm going to love to see what Vegas does with this line.
There is an upper bound to how much you can crush a team by....but this one may break all spread-making glass ceilings.

Florida back in '09 was reportedly -73 vs Charleston Southern although I have never located that line.
Savannah State was 70 point dogs the week after losing to OK St 84-0 in 2012.
I would make the line FSU -70 without question. But how could you play that?
I saw the Savannah State line. They covered losing 55-0. But here is the wrinkle. They didn't play the 4th quarter. I wonder if the books didn't negate all bets on that. I did not see the 73 point line.
After watching Mizzou beat them 79-0...what FSU would do/could do? It will come down to what they want to do.
Going in undefeated would actually not be the best case scenario to cover. It would be going in with 1 defeat and be on the outside looking into 4 teams above them. Then they'd want to crush them by 77ish. Still, I have to hand in my cappers card if I lay 70.

ur assuming FSU will BEAT Bama, which in my opinion is a long shot. Don't get me wrong, I love me some FSU, always have, but given how badly Mr. Francois got his butt handed to him by Louisville last year, I am fairly confident that Bama will win this pivotal game in Week 1.
W/ that said, I always believe that FSU plays up to the competition but Bama will be too much for them to handle in this game especially against Bama's defense.

I'm a Delaware fan but do keep an eye on Del State...they lack size, speed and athletes (everything)...memory serves me they lost to portland state 105-0 many years ago.

Looked it up. You're right. 1980. 105-0.
The Portland State coach is quoted as saying "Don't blame me if they were shi*".

Outside of a DSU player or coach committing a grave offense against a member of Fisher's family, there is no scenario that would motivate FSU to try to inflate the score.

I remember in 2016 Charleston Southern was a 64.5 point dog at Florida State. They just had 14 players suspended in what was one of the more egregious overreaches by the NCAA. If I remember correctly, a bunch of their players had used some of the stipend money they were given for books on other stuff at the bookstore like pencils, notebooks, etc. and the NCAA suspended them all. Everyone in the CFB world took the pity on them, including Jimbo Fisher who pulled all the FSU starters at half and only put up 52 on them.

Yep, that was one of the worst beats of my life. I took Charleston Southern at +34 before the suspensions. It was one of those plays where Kelly tells you to bet 60% of your bankroll. It verged on a mortal lock. Thank God I only bet about $385.
Then the suspensions came down.

I don't understand why they even schedule games like this. What benefit does it do either team/program? It's pretty much like having a hockey game scheduled between Canada vs Mongolia.
