Pretty sure my wife gave it to me after the wedding
All I know is Kent Taylor, founder and CEO of Texas Roadhouse, committed suicide in 2021, in a “battle with post-Covid related symptoms, including severe tinnitus."
He committed “to fund a clinical study to help members of the military experiencing tinnitus, a condition that involves ringing in the ears and has been linked to COVID-19 in recent research.”
Good luck to you and your health.

those of you who mentioned teeth clinching and night guard are spot on. i had the vertigo, ear ringing and a whole host of other TMJ/TMD symptoms.
if you havent seen a dentist (preferably one that can deal with neuromuscular dentistry), do it. it saved my sanity.
doing daily neck stretches (if you have the means, a good physical therapist or chiropractor can help in one session give you everything you need) can keep everything happy.
the other issue that people have brought up is ear wax. your doctor can help or there are OTC products to help.
for others, there seems to be no solution. I have a co-worker who has done everything possible the past 15 years and still has issues.

You forgot Joe Biden........I'm sure he has something to do with it according to 65% of covers.

I started getting the ringing few years ago, not related to covid just aging....at times its really loud, other times its barely there---doesnt really bother me.

My wife got it suddenly about 5 months ago. No sickness, no Covid (unless completely symptomless) and no specific incident to cause it. Just started one day and has never left. Two audiologists and two ENTs haven't been able to help.
Good to see some of the relief methods you guys describe here, I'll pass them along to her. I think she clenches her jaw and/or grinds her teeth in her sleep so the mouth guard idea is definitely worth trying.

Yep it sucks. Years of clubbing and concerts in my youth caught up to me in my late 40's. No cure for it.
It's really bad when it's quiet right before falling asleep. During the day I don't really notice it because I'm focusing on other stuff and there's background noise everywhere that drowns it out.

Now that you mention it.. I notice the ringing.. but that’s due to all the nightlife events I go to with the bass pumping the dance floor.. I’ve learned to live with it I guess.

No definite correlation could be established between COVID-19 vaccine and tinnitus.
From another study:
Other shots, like the flu shot, are thought to trigger tinnitus, potentially due to the inflammatory response invoked by vaccinations, but it’s too soon to say if the COVID-19 shots can, too.
“It’s unclear whether it’s the vaccine itself, which can cause an inflammatory reaction in the body, or if it just happens because a lot of people get vaccines and tinnitus and you’re bound to have people who overlap,”
Blaming the vaccine without proof. Catching Covid can (I stress can since everyone is different. Some people so far are fine, some get very bad symptoms like Long Covid) do far worse to your body than the vaccine will

Like all vaccines, I do agree there are side effects and unknowns (especially with mRNA....I prefer Novovax which doesnt have mRNA), but no studies so far have linked tinnitus to covid vax yet. I'm sure more studies will happen over time with this and other issues

I've had it since 2020. The ENT's are clueless, don't waste your money with them. Lots of scams out there, trying to get you to buy there product. It has as much to do with the brain as it does your actual ear.

be sure to get a well fitting one from a dentist instead of the rubber ones you can buy at the store. some dentists have a fancy machine that can easily get a mouth imprint and have the night guard made in no time.
others still make you get an imprint with this nasty waxy crap. it's annoying but necessary.
my case was bad and i had to wear mine almost 24/7 (excluding meals) for months to get my jaw and neck back into place. only off by 2mm but apparently that's huge for a dental bite. absolutely worth it though. i really hope your wife finds some relief. if she has any TMJ symptoms listed on this site:

definitely find a dentist who can help.

Should I get an MRI then? It will cost me 3k out of pocket.

That’s what I did. The dentist made a well-fit mouth guard. I haven’t had any problems with the ringing in my ears since. I also had to drain my ears a couple of times as well because of wax build up.
