FCS Championship: NDSU vs EWU

Question

The big day in the FCS is almost here and the Bizon are huge favorites. NDSU -16 is a monster number, especially against an offense that can score points like EWU can.

This is a classic defense vs offense matchup, but NDSU can score as well. Here are a few observations:

1) EWU will have a real problem stopping the run game, which can make the game real short. If the game is close midway through the second quarter, an NDSU cover becomes unlikely.

2) NDSU's zone defense is going to throw QB Barrier off, at least early on. Washington did a similar thing against OSU in the Rose Bowl, except the linebacker couldn't get enough depth in the redzone and it cost 2 TDs. NDSU will play great in these spots.

3) EWU doesn't have to play the Bizon in Fargo. That is huge...

4) Weather in Frisco is supposed to be 64 and a little wind. Don't completely discount the start time either...it will be a 9 AM start for EWU players.

Add it all up and the deck is stacked in NDSU's favor. However, if the game is close, then covering the 16 is going to be tough. For me it is NDSU or nothing, but I will be waiting for a retracement to 14 ish. Anything under 14 is a nice sized play on NDSU, from 14-17 is a light one.

Yeah, I can definitely see this game being close, especially if EWU can weather the early storm. NDSU isn't scared to grind out a win on the ground if they have to and I don't expect them to push the tempo. Could easily be a 10 pt ballgame...

However, I like that NDSU D, especially mixing up zone looks for Barrier...Maine tried to play man and got destroyed. I look for EWU to top out in the 17-24 point area and end up kick fgs in the redzone.

Was hoping for a slighter number than 16, but we'll see what it looks like tomorrow.

WOW -16 with a 61... I had this capped wrong,, lol I said to myself..... NDS -10 with a 68..... laying down 16 with a or against a team that can score,, has a sent of backdoor cover,, I am no mood for any of that... had enough of that this past bowl season.. lol

That being said,,, and yes it is a neutral, field,, soccer stadium type... weather proof they can close the roof,, so.. with all that.. being said,, I think for myself the play is OVER 61 today is my play..

………….. I do think NDS will move the ball, well though, with a very balanced attack,, and to mention a QB that has wheels too.. EWU, will get some points as well.. not sure how many,, my guess 24 and then some maybe,, I think NDS could be good for 38 plus, to mid 40,s or the game could be one that has even scoring like … like say 28 24 to the END the 3rd Q.. Well shall see..

If..... you didn&#x27;t take the offshore opener of -13/13.5, then I think you wait for in-game.  Seeing -16.5 / -17 now at two shops.  Based on season results, fair line closer to -12.5 to -13.5 IMO, BUT NDSU does ratchet up their game in the playoffs (just have to survive the brutal MVFC regular season, so regular season conference game #s not as strong).  My #s have NDSU 3-0 ATS in the playoffs with an average ATS margin of &#x2B;8.6 ppg in those 3 games  (*EWU 2-1 ATS &amp; &#x2B;2.8 ppg in their 3 playoff games).Both teams have strong ATS #s in their last 6-7 games, respectively.  New HC&#x27;s 1st game for NDSU (promoted from within), how much impact will this have??  Should be business as usual (I think) and the same overall strategy of get the lead, then play defense / run the ball on offense / play keep away 2nd half.No roof in Frisco that I recall.IF, NDSU is up a couple scores at the end of the 3rd quarter, then in-game Under (i.e., 4th qtr Under) is typically a strong play.  I&#x27;ve played in-game Under too early in mid-3rd qtr of NDSU playoff games and there are inevitably more scores late 3rd qtr.  Most offshore books, this end of 3rd qtr in-game Total will be the last one offered, so keep an eye on that.BOL to all!  Enjoy the game.

Total points scored in this game over the last 10 years are:

30, 42, 47, 56, 42, 52, 23, 39, 44, 31

There has been high level Offenses in some of those 10 games.

NDSU Red Zone Defense has turned opponents away on 50% of the chances. 11 of 22 opportunities no points scored, which is off the charts.

E. Wash Red Zone Defense is sitting at 27%, which is still respectable.

This game seems to have back door cover stamped all over it, so I'm probably looking at the Under.

Going with EWU &#x2B;16.0. Also the U62. I think they&#x27;ll get up for this championship game and be relevant until the end. Also NDSU coach Klieman has his eyes set on Kansas State for next year. Three scores is a good bit to cover in a championship game. Good luck to all!

Great game, 14 was the most you could lay in this one. Hats off to EWU, a very game effort.

Refs were terrible, changed the game from the opening jump. EWU topped out where I thought they would points wise. The zone confused Barrier, two bad interceptions.

If these teams played 10 times, I am not convinced NDSU wins 7 of them. But, they are something else and anyone who got the 13.5 was right to lay the points.

One other thing...not sure Stick should have scored on the last NDSU play. Believe it or not, going down after the 1st was achieved is the right play...especially with how fast EWU can score. No point to prolong the game there, but it did cover the opening number.

Great season fellas, to be honest, kind of glad it is over. Clemmy should be a live dog on Monday, but we will see how the betting/storylines go over the next 48 hours.

Pushed on the Total @ 62 (Bovada).  No reason for Stick to run in the last touchdown.  Take a knee with the first down and take a knee 1 more time and game over.  No reason to extend the game, unless someone really have -13.5.  I never saw it less than 16.
