First year betting CFB, any pointers or tips

Have bet MLB and nba for a few years now. I would like to build a bankroll in CFB. I would appreciate any tips and pointers on how to go about betting CFB.

1st off wreck welcome 2nd have fun enjoy the games. Here are my tips everyones are different

1. If you can try to find a conference or 2 you're good in. Since you're in Texas maybe big-12/c-usa/SEC or whatever one you want

2. Try to get some publications on college football. Phil Steele's Lindy's etc

3. Find a team before the season you think will be undervalued. LY before the season i thought Rutgers was underrated i bet i think 6 or 7 of their games and won 5 or 6. Same with a team you think will be overrated

4. Never be afraid to bet a total. When you win the guy who won 100 on Tulane gets paid the same amount as the guy who wins 100 on mich,nebarska going over

5. A lot of guys sometimes forget this you can bet on smaller conferences too. Onsaturday a texas winner gets paid just like the winner on Rice. they won't go you bet Rice you only get half the money

6. If you lose pay on time. Will they pay you on time if you win? IDK but pay them on time when you lose

7. Obviously bet what you can afford to lose

8. Something i saw last year a lot of bets on weekday games between 2 teams where you can't name 5 of their players. Treat the wednesday game like a saturday game. Ask yourself if this mac game was saturday would i bet it

9. When in doubt on a game skip it

Don't ever just blindly tail someone... Handicap your own games and compare them with others

Pick all chalk especially from SEC and power conferences

Also if you lose early bet double later

get an offshore book or go to vegas...i would never trust a local bookie because of the potential organized crime aspect...

don't pay for picks...that is for chumps...do your own capping prior to coming on here to read opinions..like corley said, don't let these amateurs and other tauts influence your picks.  do your own homework, justifiy your picks in your mind, then maybe present them on one of these forums or reach out via email to good handicappers or people you trust for their opinions.   they may know something about one of the teams that could impact your perception of the pick.    if you do your homework, you shouldn't even watch the game.  just check back later to see if you won.

you obviously did not get the intent of that sentence.    if you do your homework, you don't need to be "willing" the teams you bet on to win.   the outcome will have nothing to do with whether or not you watch the game.  honestly, I would advocate that a better watch a game that they scouting for the next week during week or some other team down the road instead of the games you bet on.  it is discipline and I believe the difference between chump emotional betters who did for fun and those of us who are serious about making money... 

I know what youre saying.  You learn from your loses  as well.  Im just saying stats can be mis-leading.  Doing your homework is watching the games.  Like you said, even if you don't have action scout the game for future reference.

understood...and I agree...when you miss, it is good to know why you missed...i guess i have learned from personal experience over the last 10 years.   rooting for some team to avoid a backdoor cover (ie Ga Tech v. NC State - Ga Tech running the ball with 30 seconds left, fumbling and NC State scoring to cover - had Ga Tech taken a knew, they cover, it has to be one of the worst ever debacles in sports wagering).    if you are a a serious capper, you have to evaluate your picks on the merits, select, then forget about it, and check to see if you win or not.   you should always use money mgt, only wager what you can afford to lose, not bet on your team if you can't be objective, and know that you will win some days, and not win others.     if you do it for fun, then watching the games his part of the fun.  if you want to beat the books, you must have a long term sustainable plan that incorporates best practices.   that's what the pro's do...and that's what I will do this college football season, God Willing...Good Luck to you!

Find an underdog you beleive can win the game and take the points.

find the matchups that matter

for example last season Baylor (a no huddle team) was playing texas tech also a no huddle offense, the total was 85, You saw most people on this forum playing the under because they thought it was too many points, Learn to see the game for what it is and play accordingly.

teams like Louisville and teams like Boston college are under machines, Until there are coaching changes made they will always go under more so than over.

then you have dirtball coaches

My number 1 dirtball coach is Kirk Ferrentz

Here is a guy who will do anything and everything to handcuff his offense, Only to allow them to play when they are losing a game.

A coward coach who for some reason has the AD under his spell at Iowa.

If you started earlier in life betting college football and betting against Dave Wannstedt you would have been a rich man 

you can wait to place bets before the first 3 weeks ...thats is because you know zip abput teams...that way you will learn what coaches love to run up the score and dont take a knee even if they are up by a bunch and with 20secs left .... and also there are conferences like PAC-12 where they play no deffense at all --- and also conferences where they play the worst football ever like the shit conf--wac-mac-cusa --so overs are golden or blow outs are for sure

and also there are new merges and teams just moved from one conf to another and some div-II teams are now playing so..its good to see how they will develop...dont go..with the names..teams like Boise were golden now they are bound to be routed

do your homework.....and if you tail...dont be a dick ......and dont complain
