For ECU fans and AAC watchers is this a tough spot for the Pirates traveling to BYU

Coming off an epic major upset at home over league favorites and high flying UCF Golden Knights off a thrilling OT victory vs Memphis also at home the Pirates have to travel across the country to Provo on a Friday night then have the  mighty Cincinnati Bearcats on deck next week. They face a downtrodden BYU team that was again spanked on the road by of all teams the Liberty Flames the previous week the Cougars were beat up and bullied in front of the home faithful by SEC Razorbacks off another road loss to then struggling Notre Dame. BYU is in a pretty big tailspin the year before they enter Big 12 play and I would have to think the Head Coach's seat is mighty hot not just for the humiliation of these losses but the real chance that the always huge bowl traveling Mormon faithful will be facing the propect of no bowl for BYU with a loss tonight.  I have always enjoyed watching ECU and their excellent uniforms play but tonight seems like a tough spot for them. Any thoughts from those who follow the American or Pirates? Thanks

Since their first game with the FG miss versus top 25 ranked NC State, they have wanted to prove they are good. BYU was also top 25 ranked coming into the season. They are motivated here. ECU has 21 sacks. They love getting to the backfield, and it is fun to watch.

In 2020, they were 3-6. Last year 7-5. They are a winning team this year, 5-3 so far. I think they feel like they could beat anyone. As you said, they are fun to watch. This is a team that has a lot of fun and works well together. Friday under the lights. This a game they are thrilled to travel and go play in a national spotlight.

I capped it as E. Caroline -6 myself, so I LOVE getting 3 points here. BYU has played worst than they could, and on paper they should be a better team, but that doesn't negate E. Carolina's stats.

I wanna know your bet Frank! But I am on ECU and I have watched all their games last three years.

On the one hand ECU was certainly fortunate with the final scores in their last two games due to sseveral turnovers in their favor.

On the other hand, BYU will be without their top RB (Brooks, who was injured during last game) and also their top receiving target by far (Epps) who was also injured in last game.  Those are two huge losses to an offense that was sputtering even with them.

a bad thing for ecu is that this is their 9th game, but only their 2nd road game. that can't be a good thing this late in the season.

ECU next is opponent is Cincy however they have a bye next week. Not such a tough spot heading into the bye week in my opinion. I feel like if Ahlers can play mistake free they have a good chance at covering the spread. The only issue is they’ve only played one road game however it was against decent competition

 First thanks to everyone who added to thread with their thoughts and input. Everyone has a point of view and bring different viewpoints is always a good thing. I used Covers forum to try and middle a game on the Prime Thursday Night game and it flirted with it but also saved me a chunk of change as the vig didn't even hurt much because the covering side had the much lower vig but the same exact sized bet on both sides. I enjoy getting input that isn't borish, braggart or bull crap. So thank you. I know this sounds ridiculous but doesn't it seem really strange that the purple unis with the skulls on the helmets seem like a very odd sight in Provo?? Or is it just me that thinks this is an extremely odd scheduling quirk by BYU?? I love ECU at home in stand alone games. They may not have a very large stadium but their home support is fantastic and the players really seem to respond to there fans. I also feel Ahlers is a talent and hometown boy with excellent Wrs and a very good RB and decent o line. The Pirates defense isn't the most talented but they play with tons of passion and have always seemed to come up with a big play. The ECU coach in my opinion is much better than the BYU HC, MUCH better. The travel, the spot and a very real lack of road games is a major concern based on ECU having an amazing amount of home games this late in the season.  My other major concern is buying ECU at its apex value after beating UCF soundly and the big OT victory over Memphis. On the flip side BYU stock is rock bottom but two were on the road Liberty and Notre Dame the other game was big rugged physical SEC bully ball Arkansas which is a terrible match up for BYU. Please keep the input coming and go Fightin Phillies!!

After watching ECU defense completely dominant UCF especially in the first half and the ECU receivers making great catch after great catch vs a defensive backfield that is vastly superior to BYU also they handed Bowers and Phlumee's running. Just hate the spot.

BYU looks like they have quit...

ECU probably feels like they're playing with house money right now. They can qualify for a bowl going into their bye week, and if they don't, well, they still have Houston at home who is not playing well and Temple the last game. So even if they lose this week and to Cincy they can get in handy enough.

So will they be motivated here or looking ahead to a week off and playing Cincy. The last win was huge, too.

But with BYU having their top offensive guys out and the defense struggling it's not really tempting to lay a FG and a hook, it's probably gonna be close.

When you struggle to beat Wyoming and Utah St at home earlier in the season as huge Chalk faves..that was the tell tell sign that there were not a good team....
