blowoutgm, I hope you aren't taking our back and fourth the wrong way. I've been here a long time, although very inactive lately. I read all your posts, as well as others I respect here. I went to Clemson, so the last thing I will ever be is an SEC fan. I only speak up if it's a game I'm betting on. Otherwise, it's just another opinion.

Wow....please dont compare defenses in the SEC and Big 12....you state Oklahomas run defense is only 30yds worse than Georgia....well thats because the Big 12 has ONE team in the top 30 in rushing, and thats Oklahoma themselves...TCU is the next best rushing offense ranked 37....the SEC has 7 teams ranked higher than that 


And NO, the TCU and Texas defense isnt close to that of Georgia

Georgia has one path to victory in this game. Pound the ball and alot of 2nd and short. If they get behind the sticks and fall behind and have to sling it around they will never catch oklahoma. My opinion: clemson and oklahoma are the two most dynamic teams left and it is those two that play for the championship. I hope money pours in on bama and georgia.

I can say the exact same thing about the SEC and their lack of passing offenses- we obviously won't agree but every arguement you are making is through SEC colored glasses- I am interested in this game because of the completely different styles- I say Oklahoma has a chance- I am not saying they will crush Georgia- you refuse to believe that Oklahoma has a chance- pretty simple minded don't you think? I believe in my handicapping as it has made me lots of money over the years- my money will be on Oklahoma and if I lose, I will just move on to the next game-

If you want to compare rushing offense, Clemson last year averaged rushing for just 169 ypg, which wouldn't have even been in the top 5 in the SEC. Statistically they also weren't as good as Bama on defense in either rushing or passing yards allowed. It didn't seem to matter since the difference maker in that game was DeShaun Watson. Just like the difference maker in this Georgia game will be Baker Mayfield. The SEC (including Bama last year) seldom sees great Heisman caliber QB's in their conference. Whenever they've lost big games that matter, that's always been Bama's kryptonite. You can't match Bama in talent (nobody can), but if you have great QB play you will always have a punchers chance against them..

As a UGA alumnus, I’ll chime in.  This will NOT be an easy game.  OU clearly has the best offense we will face all year, primarily due to Mayfield.

He reminds me of Phillip Rivers, cocky, talented, and feeds off the energy of the opposing fans.   If he gets into a rhythm, his play elevates to another level.

We can’t have a succession of 3 and outs on Offense, or Mayfield will find that rhythm and put up 3 TDS in under 10 minutes.

We will have to create clock eating drives and keep our D fresh and #6 on the sideline.

I don’t think anyone thinks we can shut down OU, but we can contain them through TOS.

Our strength is our depth.  We have 5 RBs that could start for nearly anyone in the country.  We can keep fresh legs in the trenches IF we can control the clock.

We’ve got speed as well on both sides.  If we get the ball to Hardman or Swift in the open field, it will probably turn into a TD because there won’t be anyone who can catch them.  Look at Swift’s TD that iced the Auburn game he was pulling away from every defender all the way to the goal line.

This should be a great game.  It’s truly a coin toss IMO.  I’m NOT going to bet it unless I see significant sharp action on UGA on game day.

My other concern is that Fat-@$$ Fuller is interviewing Mel Tucker (our DC) for the UT job.

But Mel is their backup plan (according to a UT insider that I know).   They want Kevin Steele from Auburn.

I hope they get this crap resolved by the time finals are over.

I lost my account from 10 or so years ago. And I'm an admitted OU fan.

 

Never in my life have I seen a better spot for OU. Georgia has an excellent running attack. They've got the best linebacker core (even though one of them got busted for pot) in the final 4. They also have a  suspect secondary. OU beats you at the 2nd level. Brown is the fastest man in cfb. Mayfield is the best QB in cfb. Mayfield is being protected by NFL talent on the O line lead by first round pick Orlando Brown. He's a large violent man. As outlined by the UGA alum they've only one way to win. One. They run the ball and play keep away. OU has multiple ways to win. It's not gimmicky. It' not trickery. It' an well balanced scheme crafted by a great offensive mind in Riley and executed by the best QB in the game. 

 

Georgia has a freshman QB that stands like a statue in the pocket. Obo will reek havoc on Georgia's offensive line. He changes the math on every team OU plays. OU only has to stop Georgia twice over the course of the entire game.

 

The wrong team is favored. There isn' a team that can completely shut down OU. Not a single team.

Gerorgia wont completely shut down OU but they will hold the to around 28 PTS........THe Ou defense is suspect and the Georgia running game and OL will flat outscore OU here........GA QB Fromm has performed very well for a FR going up against MUCH better defenses than OU..........Not a big SEC fan but the defenses in the B12 besides TCU are a joke......Georgia is a team with a ton of NFL talent and more consistent than OHST.......

Ths s the same story we have seen 10+ times....a team from the Big 12 (usually Oklahoma) makes it to the BCS games now playoffs with this amazing high-scoring cant be stopped offense...then the BCS game comes and bam, they got stomped!!   

Why??

Because they are finally playing better, stronger, faster athletes...

Like II stated, the Big 12 has the worst defenses in the country...Okalhoma scores 50+ but also gives up 30+....if you watch these games, Wr's are catching the ball without defenders on the tv sometimes...

Oklahoma is going to get crushed!!  The lines are complete mismatches and Baker is going to be running for his life like the kid in Little Giants,.....not to mention Georgia running for 250+...

Oklahoma wont score 20+ unless late in the game when they score in garbage time when Georgia is up 3 scores
