GucciCapper hopes to continue the momentum after Fresno State took care of business last week. Today, GucciCapper is going to lay the -3 points (GucciCapper knows it was 2.5 earlier) on the Marshall Thundering Herd. GucciCapper is quite confident that Marshall will take care of business today against a Navy squad that should be absolutely terrible. Here's a few reasons why.
1) New Coach for Marshall - GucciCapper always likes to take a team to win their first game for their new coach. Doc Holliday was a great coach at Marshall (he did win Conference USA coach of year) but Marshall felt a change was needed. Enter Charles Huff, the running back coach for Alabama. GucciCapper thinks Huff is a slight step up from Holliday in the coaching carousel and GucciCapper expects him to have his players fired up for their first game of the season. GucciCapper always likes to take a coach to win his first game with a new team and GucciCapper would be shocked if Marshall came out flat.
2) Navy's Offense is in Shambles/Marshall's Defense is Great - Navy had a horrible year offensively last year and GucciCapper does not expect them to get any better this year. Navy lost a ton of their rushers and had a terrible offensive efficiency. GucciCapper expects Marshall's defense to be as stout as they were last year. Expect this to get ugly boys. Navy will not be able to milk the clock against Marshall and will have their defense on the field for most of the game. Expect a lot of 3 and outs from this Navy offense who will most likely pass more than expected (which will also be disastrous). This is a match up nightmare for Navy and Marshall's defense should completely control the trenches.
3) Marshall's Quarterback Maturing - GucciCapper thinks that Grant Wells will be a much better decision maker with the football this year. Wells showed some promise as a freshman and GucciCapper expects him to be a lot better this year. Marshall is known to ground and pound behind their extremely talented offensive line which should open a ton of holes on offense for the running backs. Expect solid decision making out of Wells and a few touchdowns up his sleeve.
Guys, this game shouldn't be close. GucciCapper thinks this will be as relaxing as a game as Fresno State was last week against UConn. Ride with Marshall and GucciCapper today and expect a blowout. Best of luck.
