I'll make it quick, if this is posted in the wrong spot please advise and I'll remove and repost.
I have been gambling on and off for a while. I'm more of a grinder and there are 3 people on here that I follow faithfully and they have done me good. I really don't understand how to come up with my own lines to find value, I tried the Sagarin rating the gs and just don't get it. But what I am running into is that I seem to bet way to much. I can't ever decide which games to pick from the post that are made from the 3 I follow so generally bet them all.
I was hoping you guys could give me some advice on how to cut down on how many games I am betting. I love the action but I am overdoing it. I hope you can give me some insight. They all seem equal to me and I'm just looking for anything I can do to narrow my list. Is there something simple I can do with the Sagarin ratings to help me pick between 2 games I want to bet. Or another idea I could use maybe other than those ratings? Anything that I could do to cut my list from 35 games a Saturday to 15. Thanks in advance and thank you to everyone for all the hard work and write ups you do.

Just an example of how I am confused with the Sagarin ratings system is the Oregon vs UCLA game this weekend. After rounding off both teams have a 87 rating. Then add 3 for home field to UCLA and they have a +3 rating over Oregon, but the spread is Ducks -2.5. It doesn't make sense to me.....or am I missing something?

Sagarin is just one set of power ratings based on past results and a computer formula. The oddsmakers have their own sets of power ratings, plus they can adjust the line for subjective reasons( how the teams match up against each other, whether a team is improving week by week, lucky breaks that led to a win, etc)
it wouldn't be gambling if all you had to do to pick a winner was compare Sagarin to the actual line.

Hey buddy. First of all always good to ask for help.
1. How to narrow games down?
Many moons ago I started with big 10 and ACC and SEC. Built from there. Maybe pick a conference or two to start. (Just my 2 cents not saying its gospel)
2. IF u decide to work off power ratings - SAG are decent but get better once each team has played 7-8+ games - you could decide to play the 3-5 games with the largest differentials (Vegas vs SAG). Again. Not saying its what you should do just an idea to get started and only if u believe strongly in PR. I look at SAG as a point of reference compared to my numbers and then start capping. Keep it in mind but just one factor.
3. If SAG says UCLA 3. Vegas has Oregon 2.5. Power rating focused cappers might consider that a good play (UCLA). Again I would not play just on that but I know guys who do that and do ok. Makes it easy. Downside? You could be missing something big.
GL !!
(Again just my thoughts other guys will have other and better ideas)
