this whole notion that you can not depend on the world's top 100 newspapers to get your basic news info is frankly bizarre and scary.
"I don't trust the New York Times" so I'll go to newsmax or OAN is frankly LOL.. or somewhere much much worse.
I'm talking basic news (like what DJT or Joe Biden actually said)... not the op-ed page.... and not CNN or Fox News. neither is a news organization. they are the TV equivalent of talk radio.
anyway, wake up and give your head a shake........
and BTW, a regulated Twitter or Facebook would have kicked these people to the curb two years... I can't believe someone who lies over and over again every day would want government regulation.

Twitter will enforce its policy against ban evasions to ensure that Trump does not try to circumvent his personal account's suspension, the company told CNN.
"If it is clear that another account is being used for the purposes of evading a ban, it is also subject to suspension," Twitter said in a statement. "For government accounts, such as @POTUS and @WhiteHouse, we will not suspend those accounts but will take action to limit their use."

One could make the argument that the New York Times is the written version of talk radio. Why is a newspaper put on a pedestal? That industry is hurting for eyeballs more than any other medium out there

Good one Kelly. The point is every news outlet will pander to its audience whether it’s tv or print. I’ll leave you boys alone now. Don’t forget to agree with one another no matter what, it should make for some riveting conversation

Doja is actually 100% correct but you don't have to take my word for it. You should read Chomsky's Manufactured Consent and then read Matt Taibbi's Hate, inc. And while I agree with Rockfort's general thesis, there is nothing wrong with discourse. There is something wrong with jumping all over a guy with childish, wise apple remarks when you're clearly uninformed on the subject in our own right. And frankly, how does one even "stick his hand in an open electrical outlet"? What exactly is an open electrical outlet? Is that like a open man hole? An open book? Have you ever swung a hammer? You sound like when a chick tries to talk about cars.

And that wasn't an opening to start up some fruity pebbles covers forum argument, i'm really not the guy. I've got no beef with you. I was simply stating that Doja's comment actually has a ton of merit. That there is reading material out there on the subject (Matt Taibbi's book is really good and much more current than Manufactured Consent) and that "open electrical outlet" sounds funnier than shite. How does one stick a hand in this "open outlet"?

Look, I was just recommending a good book. We don't read enough in this country anymore. Actual printed words on paper. It is contributing to the dumbing down of a nation.

books r wonderful . i agree not enuf people read books and then not enuf books
but i take issue with his original statement
" One could make the argument that the New York Times is the written version of talk radio "
which is absurd becuz the times is so much more than that to b sure
which then prompted your response saying he is 100% correct
but for daily news local national and world i read online editions of various papers
i dont get that or anything remotely close to that from 'talk radio '

No no no.. The problem is that WE deposited democracy to these companies.Trump has a right to say everything he wants (except incite violence!) and we must protect his right no matter what. These bans horrify me.
He does have that right. And these companies have the right to regulate what is said on their platforms.

Yep. And I hope this will be their down fall. I gave up FB years ago - and now I'm through with Twitter.
So yeah, hope their stocks plummet and they go bankrupt.

u realize if FB/Twitter were regulated these grifters would have been kicked to the curb 2 years ago. i would love to see social media disappear. don't think it's done much good on a net-basis for the world.
This. I've never even had a Twitter account. Amazing to me how so many people, including the current President, are so dependent on Twitter. Think about how sick that is for a second.

This is inaccurate. The President of the United States does not have a right say everything he wants. Where are you getting this idea from? That is not what free speech means, especially as the President of the United States. There are potential civil and criminal consequences for certain kinds of speech, especially as the POTUS. Why do bans from social media companies horrify you? They are not the government. They have no legal authority or control over voluntary citizens. Users should simply stop using social media platforms, if they do not like how they manage and control content and messages. That would definitely take power and influence away from these private companies.

FBI Director Wray says over 200 suspects identified in the trump-incited Capitol riots
Investigators have identified more than 200 suspects in their probe of the January 6 attack at the US Capitol and arrested more than 100 individuals, FBI Director Chris Wray said Thursday in his first public appearance since the riot.
"We know who you are if you're out there, and FBI agents are coming to find you," he said during an inauguration security briefing at FEMA headquarters.
