Hey everybody, wanted to get a discussion going on the number of CFB bets you put in per week. As for me, to avoid chasing, steam plays, etc. I know the teams I'll be playing going into the start of the week. All I do is wait for line movements to head in my favor, since I play mostly dogs. It seems like there are successful callers on here that play 10+ games a week!!!! I tend to end up playing 1-4 games per betting week. Let's hear some opinions!

To be honest I don't think there is a magic number out there. It will be different from person to person. I think you should play as many or as little games as you feel there is an edge on. I can't imagine me seeing a weekly card with 15 games on it that I love and saying to myself "ok now only pick 8 of these because that is your weekly play limit."
With that said, I do understand that some people do limit there plays and that is fine as long as they are comfortable with that and it works for them.

Thanks for the comment poker, using your example of 15 games you love during the week, would you play those games all for the same amount? If you have one week where you love 8 and one where you love 15 are you going to play those games for the same amount, or do you have a set amount of money you are willing to risk per week, or per year?

I don't mean to say that you have to have a rigid/set number or anything, but I was curious as to how people come up with their final bets for the week? Is there a process you go guys go through to rule out games you like from games you actually bet on? For me, when i look at a card there are games that stick out to me, and from there i start researching (looking at teams previous games play recaps mostly), and end up with a final card after having removed a few games that didn't pass the research test. Is this similar to how others finalize plays, or do you guys approach it a different way? Thanks for the comments thus far, gents!

You play as many games as you see an advantage on.
There are going to be people who tell you to limit your games. But that tells you one thing. It tells you they cant win when they dont limit their games. I have never met someone who advocated playing less games that was a winner.
I have a process similar to yours as far as picking out games. I am sure most people do. But everyone is almost always different.

I agree that everybody has a different way they approach sports betting, and i think it's interesting to hear what strategies what have/haven't worked for others. How many plays do you have on average per week RJ? Since you play anything you see an advantage on does that mean you flat-bet every game for the same amount? I think bet amounts are as important as amount of games played. As the season goes on I vary my bet amounts a good bit, usually between 1-10 units. By choosing fewer games per week, if I cash on the 10 unit plays, not having a whole bunch of 2 unit losses helps maximize my profit.

NOW I RATHER ANALIZE THE CARD ... LOOKING FOR MISMATCHES AND SOME BAD SPOTS FOR CERTAIN TEAMS...NAD ONLY DO A 2 TO 4 BETS AT THE MOST OR A ONE BET ON A 10PT TEASER LARGEE

Anywhere from 8-15 a week.
I do not flat bet for college football. I do flat bet for every other sport, though. College Football is just something I find to be pretty easy to win money at over the course of a season. So I step out when I feel the time is right and I make bigger plays if the situation warrants one. You will see that I havent made any big plays yet this year, but as the weeks go on, the plays just become more and more obvious.
Your thing about cashing the 10 unit plays and not worrying about the 2 unit losses tells you one thing. You shouldnt be playing those 2 unit plays anyway. Dont gamble just to gamble.
If you step out and play larger amounts, you want to hit at higher percentages. If you scale back and play smaller amounts, you dont want to hit at a lower percentage. You want those plays to be just as valuable. If you arent hitting the same percentage, or higher, than you usually do, you shouldnt be playing those. Those shouldnt fit your criteria.

RJ, it sounds like you share a similar style, but play more games. I have only played 2 games so far this season, and believe what you said about the games getting easier as the season goes on. A huge part of why I take games is based on the eye test. I watch as much football as I can, and try to watch the obscure conferences as often as possible, because those lines are typically off by multiple points IMO. This week I'm actually stepping out a bit with probably a 5-6 unit play on Maryland.

I will play more games early on...while I still feel there are weak lines. But I usually end up with around 8-10 when everyone complains about the lines sharpening up or tightening. Thats when I find it the easiest and play my biggest plays.
The one thing I never do, is take too much from a game I watch. The best thing for a gambler to do is to not watch the games you bet on. Things can happen that change your perception or skew your views.
I get that you see an advantage to playing and watching the smaller conferences, but that is your way of doing it. I dont cap at all. I havent capped a day in my life, but I win a lot of money at this. That just shows you that you may get rich off one method, a person doing the same exact thing as you may not. What works for us may not work for everyone. So, while these discussions are good, a lot of the information and advice people offer may not apply.
This is the week where I step my plays up across the board - but this is a week I have been waiting on for months. I plan my college season last year, pretty much.
I wish you luck with your Maryland bet and with figuring out the right amount of plays for you or how to limit your plays. The thing about gambling is it is not an exact science and trying to discuss it too much can lead to overkill.
