I can't think of a better way to crown them. It suits them.

Not a well played game byn Cam Newton. Oregon shut him down completely.
Not a true Oregon football game. Mismanaged redzone opportunities.
Not sure we want football to be played this way at all. Alabama was a great champion. Auburn is a different animal. They are hard to like for several reasons.
Cam.
The Coach.
The defensive players.
The dreadlocks (love BobMarley, but these guys aint 'cool' they be criminal)
Oregon is not exacty an opposite of Auburn--but Auburn is not what most of us want to see in a champion. But they lined up with pads and helmets and they won every game. So that makes them champions. Noone said champions will always be "good ol boys," and anyway that's boring.
I will accept Auburn for what they are. They won. They are not my kinda team. But they are ok. Nothing wrong with having an edge about you, and getting in your face. Hell, the other team wants to beat you and disrespect you, so why not defend yourself?
Congrats Auburn. It will be a LOOOOOOONG time before you see that trophy again. But thanks for contributing.

I like drama. I also like to have expectations of human behavior. If I get NEITHER in a game, I start asking questions.
If Auburn's star QB and his family have "issues" then this is disconcerting.
If Coach Chizick has no congratulations for the other team, than he is not being very "national" or diplomatic, and not contributing to the sport.
If Auburn's defensive players continue to play 'dirty' and abusive, then as champions they are taking football to a different arena than it was before.
Why was this game a slugfest?

I agree that the game was there for the taking..........neither team was real impressive & Auburn got 1 more break than did oregon.......so they are the champs.
2004 auburn was not #1 in offense........maybe top 20.......& they played a joke of an OOC schedule that year, which is what kept them out of the race.

i'm not saying Auburn wasn't the better team Monday night...... not really the point. all i'm saying is that, for a national champion, they are very weak. i think the stars aligned to get them into this game, and then they aligned again for them to win it. think about the first half. Auburn's first TD came 1 play after what appeared to be a very clear interception..... i recorded the game, and watched the play many times. at no point did the DB ever show that he didn't control the ball. i believe the only reason it wasn't overturned is because the refs couldn't be sure that it was controlled, but if it had been ruled correctly on the field, it could not have been over-turned in that case, either. the next play, Auburn puts up 7. later, Oregon holds them at the goalline, then gets off their goalline with a nice shovel pass, but an illegal shift puts it back on the goalline. that illegal shift was a monumental play, and i would argue the single most important play of the game...... it led directly to 9 points, stole Oregon's momentum, and allowed Auburn's defense to stay on the sideline and rest, instead of possibly enduring a 99 yard game-ending drive (and it would have ended the game, because it would have absolutely finished Auburn's defense for the rest of the game)...... so that's 16 points that at best should have been 3 points (if AU had kicked a FG instead of going for it on 4th and 1 at the goalline).
say what you want about Auburn dictating things; they did not force that illegal shift. and that was the turning point in the ball game.
like i said, they got about every break a team can get to win that game...... and it harkens back to the Alabama game, where the same fortuitous breaks all went Auburn's way. Alabama left something like 24 points on the board while in the redzone, 17 in the first half alone.
Auburn gets the national championship because we don't have a tourney to decide a legitimate one (like Sashimi said), but they are not a championship caliber team, from everything i saw this year.
I agree. Great play. A little "movement" and Auburn's fans are gleeful. But no juggling there and Oregon has the control of the game. Agree also that a replay would not reverse it if it were called an INT on the field.
Regarding the safety that led to 9 unanswered before the half: One play prior to that, a defensive lineman went offsides. Terrible for Oregon because his offsides meant little, and The ball would have been 4th and 5, probably a FG attempt. Would have been 11-10 Oregon and Oregon able to run with less stress and better field position.
Most people just scoreboard watch and do not see these momentum shifts and truly believe in "destiny" or "God's help" when the result is truly random.
I believe Oregon did an incredible job of limiting Cam's effectiveness. Credit Auburn for finding a stocky linebacker covering a fleet receiver. That was the one true legit TD, but again, that followed the INT "no-call."
The defensive line was overpowering for Auburn, and made it rough for Oregon's offense.
The play calling of running off tackle was playing RIGHT into Auburn's hands. There ere too many linemen up front and it was a messy slugfest. Oregon should have opened it up early and often and exploited the weaker secondary. It was Oregon arrogance to try confront a strength of an opponent.
It is a running offense, but few can run all day on Auburn.
The first series for Oregon was a tepid and fear filled 3 and out. I believe they played that way all night. The defense stepped up for Oregon and played like Champions.
The fact that all the sideline coaches were coaxing him to run while noone was looking or paying attention, is a form of cheating. Hey, the refs are leaning our way, let's take it.
Putting a microphone in front of Nick Fairley is embarrassing. The coach was classless and self serving.
The TCU coach gave an example of being a national spokesperson, after beating Wisconsin (listen to it). Texas Christian would have been a better national representative, and a better champion--on and off the field. Knowing Chris Peterson, the same can be said of Boise State.

Nick Fairley's headed for NFL millions.
Jumping a ship before it sinks.
He cannot dominate a pro-game like he can the NFL. He will learn to behave. I'm sure he is a candidate to become bored and will not excel at the next level. He enjoys the bully role.
One of nine brothers and sisters. Busy mama and papa...Guess we should all have 10 children, and surely ONE of them can make millions to cover everyone else's ass in the family.
Cam ready to jump ship? Defensive front line saved his ass this last game.
