He will be drafted in the 1st round of the NFL. Not saying I agree with it, but he is the 3rd ranked QB in the draft. There are desperate teams in the NFL

Different world now. Its all about the . These players are only looking for financial rewards. The thing many of them don't realize is that they will leave early (when they are not ready) and maybe play in the league for 1-2-3 years but after that they are out. Problem is they left school early and didn't get their degree and are now in a bad spot.

With the transfer portal today, every player thinks they are an all-American talent. Its the program/coaches fault for not letting them play to show their talents.

Its only going to get worse before it gets better.

 A basketball player “retired” from basketball after leaving a few years ago. He already had a few million to get his life started from playing and getting paid in college. That’s the new normal. Beck will never start a game in the NFL and he knows it. 

Ewers has already made money in college.  Millions probably but if you have an agent + taxes then the exact number is hard to quantify.  He does commercials here so he's definitely making some bank in his first 3 years in college.  If he goes thru the transfer portal, he wont see the success he did at Texas.  He wont have that defense, the O-Line or the WRs.  The coaching staff.  He has stuff to work on but he wont have the success he had at Texas and that would be a step down.  Plus there's always the big injury concern.

Ewers' goal is the NFL and that's where he'll be headed.  Depending on the combine he'll be a late day 2 or early day 3 pick.

NFL teams are always needing a QB, even as a backup.  Some teams will take a chance on him as a project and see if he can learn more as a backup.  He has height, strength and a decent arm.  His decision making is iffy and QB coaches can work with that.  He's not very mobile and maybe that's something he can work on. He'll make plenty that way in the NFL and wont have to schlep at Michigan State or SMU (I'm just throwing out random names, not actual or rumored landing spots).

He reminds me of Brandon Weeden. Just careless with the ball over the middle of the field. He will be a backup at best and when he does have to play he will have more picks and TD's. 

I think careless "when pressured".  When he has time, he's pretty spot on. But in the NFL, there arent many great OLines so he cant rely on having that.  

Also he often has plays where he throws "to spots"...to places where his WR is expected to be. But he doesnt always see the field way to expect if the WR will be there and not the DB.  Something like that can be fixed but a good QB coach.

He's a project.  Some upside for sure but he wont be great.  Probably Mac Jones-ish

He is going in the draft. He will be the 3rd qb taken and taken in the first round.

Maybe he can transfer to new mexico st so he can look good against the bad teams they play

My prediction he will go before the 100th pick, but 4th round would not surprise me. No shot in hell he goes in the 1st round lol. 

Problem:  what is his agent telling him, what does he think? - sure he should go 3rd/4th maybe, but teams OFTEN reach for QB's - he no doubt thinks 2nd round late at worst, meaning $1.5-1.7/year - with about 3M up front 

Realistically - he should take $5M or so - stay in college - look to go high 1st round next year....but he probably overrates his value.  He might be right - a desperate team could easily reach and take him 1st/2nd - FFS they do it every year.   

He's wrong? - a 3rd round pick means roughly 1.25- 1.5/yr + 1M up front ..... a huge pay cut from college

4th - 1-1.25 + 750K up front - brutal

top pick in 2026? - roughly $10m/year + 25-30M up front

Exactly. It will depend on where Ewers ends up. A good coach could help mask some of his issues.

Sean Payton has done an exceptional job with Nix this year.

Word out right now is McDaniels is headed back to New England as OC. That would be great for Maye.

as with many discussions - guys are saying where they think he belongs - rather than - "where will an NFL team take him?

the difference is urgency. Some coach/GM jobs are on the line for next year and their QB cupboard is bare. They will feel the "need" to reach earlier and hope they can be successful with him
