If Clemson beats smu does smu still get in?

Who knows at this point. CFP rankings have them at 8. You would think the fact that they didn't end up beating a team all year who ended up on the final CFP top 25 rankings, they shouldn't be in. Problem is then we will be stuck with Bama who is undeserving. Committee got the rankings wrong.

And Bama has the easiest path to NC.........ND and Boise State to reach the semi-finals if I'm not mistaken........Tell me I'm wrong

This is pretty easy. Bama, on a neutral field, would probably be -9 vs SMU (my line, not Vegas's).....If SMU has 2 losses they have no real argument other than the better record.....which is just something lazy people will look at.....SMU should/coulda easily lost to Nevada and Duke....If this was just 4 teams it wouldn't matter.....now that it's 12, of course there's gonna be drama......

SMU donors get to legally pay for players now. No coincidence otherwise what recruit is going to SMU? The Methodist ones? Come on it's a medium sized private Texas school. Money talks the rest walks. Dude no offense but if you think SMU is a better football team than Alabama you’re just part of the whole reason we needed 12 teams. You must have forgotten how the SEC walked all over the 4 team playoff year after year w a couple exceptions. There are 8 or 9 teams in the SEC better than SMU. Maybe more? What’s the spread on SMU vs Florida or Oklahoma or fucking Vanderbilt or Auburn.

is SMU favored on any of those teams fields? They all came in 10th or worse in the SEC. SMU plays an SEC schedule and what’s their record? They are just gonna run through it right?!

the ACC sucks it’s a shame them and the big12 are considered to be major conferences because they aren’t and there are 12 teams across the big ten and SEC that would smoke them all.

I don’t think smu is better I’m just tired of bama always getting the benefit of the doubt yr after yr. Yes head to head bama beat sc, but sc is the better team now. Sc missed a 2 pt conversion w under a min left that would have tied the game in a game  a road game for a young sc team, that was just building chemistry. Take the head to head out of sc vs bama and sc resume is a lot better. I know head to head matters but a freshman qb on road early in season, game that came down to 2 pt Conversion should matter. I’m just trying to hope for away bama doesn’t get in and the committee won’t put sc over them so seeing opinions on smu. 

Is Bama better than SMU - yes.

Is Bama gonna make the playoffs if SMU loses - no.

They are not going to penalize a team for making it to the conference championship. 

if SMU was sitting there with 2 loses and a loss in the championship would be there 3rd it’s a different discussion. 

The committee will screw someone if they have to just to get Bama in. That's what they do year in year out.

It isn't about whether people think Bama is better then SMU it is about giving those teams the chance to show if they are or how far they have to go to get there. Just like college basketball some of those small conference teams are not better than the middle of the big conferences but they are there to give them a chance and have variety. Those who would get looked over at the end of the 12 team playoff just like the last few out in college basketball have little to complain about.

Bama, S Caro, Ole Miss and maybe a few more - kick their azz. Fine year but caught their few decent opponents at a great time. TCU, Louisville beat them now probably.

 Just to be on the safe side they better not lose to Clemson. 

The Committee dude was quoted last night saying " no team who is the loser of a championship game will be knocked out by a lower seed if their season is over. They don't want to penalize any team for playing the extra game.

So SMU is ranked higher 8th than Bama 11th so according to how he answered the question if SMU loses they are still in and Bama is out. 

We shall see! Exciting times.

I am a huge Indiana fan (local connection to rourke) but Bama would be big favourites vs. Hoosiers

Just average Sagarin basic rating and recent rating and Bama is probably top 6... EDIT: Bama is #5 and #6
