so, if i lose with this one i am only going to focus on nfl where i am 11-5 (68.75%) this season....this is my biggest cfb play ytd.
maryland +14.5
scouting ga tech:
ga tech won three big games last three weeks: revenge against kansas and ncst as well as another close one against unc for the 2nd straight season. both kansas and ncst upset ga tech last season so it was very important for ga tech to get their revenge. and while their offense stil looks good, it is not as impressive now as it looked in first three weeks when they faced wc, mtsu and kansas, as we all know by now how bad those three defenses are. ncst and nc defenses are better, but not elite, and ga tech averaged 40 ppg offensivelly in those games compared to almost 60 ppg in first three weeks. maryland defense is not elite either but they are rested and had a nice tune-up game against towson last week creating 4 turnovers.
scouting maryland:
maryland is 7-3-1 ats in last 11 away or on neutral field and this season they have some mixed results as they won against a team like miami but also lost to temple. i believe that they can compete against anyone when they are in the mood. playing against an unbeaten team motivates everyone, and maryland should be no exception to that rule. losses to wva and temple are not as bad as some people think as both those teams are underrated. maryland defense is not about allowing less yards than opponents average but rather creating turnovers. so far they created 12 turnovers in 4 games which is good for 3 to per game.
key stats:
according to statfox, marylands defensive yppt and offensive yppt are both better than ga techs. according to sagarin, maryland played a taugher schedule than ga tech so far this season. maryland also has the edge in punting average and red zone defense.
the x-factor:
this is the first time since 1990 that maryland started the season 5-0. the last time it happened they failed miserable against unc as a 2 td favorite. it is unknown territory for ga tech. the pressure is on them, not on maryland.
