I don't believe it to be a distraction when as a player you know the coach has your back. They knew all along the accused would all be playing because the coach is in charge of the discipline in this case . This team is locked in and all the players want to give their seniors a proper goodbye. Love wants to "ball out" and have fun on the field with his brothers one last time. What better way than with a win and cover...well a win for them cover for us USU backers.
I actually think it brings them together when a coach has your back the team has your back. They know he's going to the NFL and they want help show what kind of QB he really is.
Kent State is happy to be there. They know it was a Cinderella story and a great accomplishment to get there given the odds.
USU had designs on the Mt West title and a real bowl game. This bowl game is beyond disappointment for them - hard to see any motivation at all from them. They got steam rolled by all the MWC biggies in Conf play, and ended up in the WTF Bowl.
Kent St small winning streak at the end might just be the difference, as their new head coach has them bowling in year two of his tenure, and they play early enough that the win streak momentum might carry over. Might...
Don't get me wrong, Kent St sucks, and USU is the obvious play based on stats, but Bowl season is not about stats, it is all about who is motivated to play. This is a fade on the team that had a real disappointing season. Not a large play by any means.

Why is this total getting so high? I don’t get it. Utah states defense is respectable and I don’t think Kent state is good enough offensively to keep going up and down the field. I mean there’s a chance Love balls out to impress nfl people, but Frisco the weather is kinda cold, they could have rain. It inching up to 71 makes no sense. Bettors are trusting the Kent state offense far more than what I’ve seen they’re capable of this year. Unless Utah state wins 49-24 ish.
Yeah to the one guy who says there’s no motivation for Utah StAte. The team had a disappointing year by their standards, and is it that disappointing, they’re almost never as good as Boise state and they weren’t this year. And the one who you want to be motivated the most is the quarterback and Love will sure as hell be with a draft pick on the line. He will definitely be more so than a lot of the Kent players who aren’t as likely to be high nfl prospects.
