how is it that EVERYBODY in this entire forum has failed to notice this:
Tx A&M has been consistently the 4th or 5th best team in the Big 12 for the past decade... behind OU, Texas and Oklahoma St... even with K St or Baylor... that is where they fall in that hierarchy... i don't actually remember when they won the Big 12 title last... but suffice to say, they were 2nd tier...
West Virginia was the king of the Big East, and stamped their exclamation on that with a 70-30 crushing of the best the ACC has to offer before they headed to the Big 12... now that they are in the Big 12, they are on the same level as Iowa St...
Tx A&M, meanwhile, goes to the SEC, with a new coach, and a new QB, and goes toe-to-toe with all of the big boys... and MOST IMPORTANTLY... dominates the garbage out of all of the weaker teams, which everybody has always claimed would go into other conferences and win them...
it's a load of horseshit! we are being fed loads of horseshit by these people on ESPN, and most of you are too stupid to know you are eating it...
Maybe if you were to post the same ridiculous information 5 more times, everyone here on Covers would buy in to it.

They have a very dangerous QB this year. They are not the A&M of last year. Oh yeah, that QB is a heisman trophy finalist if not that most dynamic, game changing player this year.
You're a bitter loser.

the top 6 teams in the SEC combined to go 6-13 ATS outside of their own conference... to put that in perspective, that is their record against what Vegas (the almighty on-high Vegas) and/or the public (those people whose opinion we find expressed right here in this thread) expected their beloved SEC power-house teams to do against the "rest of the world"...

they had a very dangerous QB last year... his name was Ryan Tannehill... he was a first round draft pick, and he is playing his behind off in the NFL right now...
all of your arguments, about how great their QB is this year, just sound like excuses... and they can be easily justified by pointing out that he has played almost all of those games against other SEC competition... the supposed defensive juggernauts of the world...
DRJack... sorry to disturb your slumber with those ridiculous facts...

I have to say, that's the first time I've ever heard Tannehill as dangerous.
JFF will be the first freshman trophy winner. Can you put that into perspective and give off your pedestal for a minute?

1. The fact that you wasted time looking that up is humorous.
2. In what way is that relevant to this thread?
The smoke from your Avatar has invaded your brain.

Remember a QB named Cam Newton? Look at his former team now, 2 years removed from National Champs. Excuses? I don't think so.

SEC is probably best but I agree with a lot of what A.L. has to say. The SEC has some real turds but just by being in the SEC, they are proclaimed as wonderful. The press given to them is pretty sickening at this point. I called it in an earlier thread. Two of the 3 (KSU, Oregon and ND) unbeatens would lose and Alabama would be in the NC game simply because the press says its so. No other 1 loss team stood a chance of even being considered.

The correct answer is #1 , and whoever said 2 or 3 got it wrong, and failed this pop quiz, and proves that you didn't watch the football games this season

Hey Apocolypse, since your posts are kinda vague and rambling ... how do you really feel? Should I put you down for a "1"?

Top to bottom Big XII got 9 out of 10 teams in a bowl. Plus you have to count that they have to play 9 conference games. SEC is so top heavy with their top 6 they beat up on the rest of the conference but when you have 6 teams that have the records they have its impressive. I could care less about conferences I care about winning. People have a certain perception of specific teams like Bama which leads to VALUE. Bama is overrated as far as perception goes. A&M and FL are better teams. OU is also perceived better than they really are so you get VALUE. Its why I love A&M and ND.

OK, fine. But what is your vote?

op, this is not really a fair thread to create asking for anyone to vote for or against the sec. It is very obvious how good a conference the sec really is. First of all they have the most number of teams in any conference of college football, 2 division of 7 teams each. The other thing i look at is the coaching. How in the world can LSU be so crappy on offense yet be the team that they are ranked in the top 10? Well they've always had a good defense, even without tyrann mathieu this year. Les Miles is a really good coach and knows how to recruit. As goobero said in #41 urban meyer used to be in the sec, obviously he knows what he's doing because only a great coach like him can win with a braxton miller. I don't know every single little thing there is to know about all the sec teams, but i know enough. All you have to do is talk to people who have no bias against the sec teams or the pac 12 teams for that matter. Some of the better college football fans who know what's really going on are fans of Conference USA, Mid-american, or even Mountain West. I've never been a fan of a lot of the teams from the sec including tennessee, lsu, and florida. But i respect what they bring to the table as far as betting and from what i gather watching the games. Many of the spreads involving a top sec team in my opinion go overboard, because the oddsmakers can take advantage of shifting the lines out of favor of say alabama at double digits vs notre dame, wow. I know that alabama can win the game but on first thought, that is a lot of points to give notre dame. But to bring ATS into the equation of the sec conference as a whole is irrelevant. Yes there are too many sec teams that are rated in the top 15, but to me that is not bullcrap. The sec is truly the conference you want to be a part of because its players can compete at a high level more times than not throughout the season and have more success in the nfl.
Now it doesn't mean that the sec will stay on top next year or even years to come and we'll definitely see who keeps coming out on top once the playoff format takes shape hopefully. ApocalpyseLater, your passion can definitely be appreciated, but the problem i see is that you are over stating yourself and you come across as having too much anger and that's not necessary. It's not fair that this thread was started but i have not seen a strong intelligent case against the sec. As i stated ATS records are irrelevant and so is the fact that the sec does not schedule many non-conference games perhaps its due to the fact they have 7 teams in each division totaling 14 in the conference?
I do feel your pain regarding the imbeciles and morons in a forum but there are just way more concrete cases of them on the roads, at the grocery stores, or in other threads.

1 for sure. As somebody who follows SEC football pretty closely, I see most of these bowl games being pretty lopsided. I'm definitely going to lay a lot of green on Vandy -6.5, South Carolina -3.5, Georgia -10. The only game that I don't think the SEC team wins/covers is the Gator Bowl. Mississippi state beat up on a bunch of cupcakes. I see northwestern winning that game outright.

it is hilarious... that the SEC teams play NOBODY outside of their own conference... and then, by beating up on each other every year, they manage to fool people into thinking they have all of the best teams...
does nobody see the flaw in this system of logic??????
seriously... ?
It's called football IQ.
The only teams that can pose a challange to any of the top 6 SEC teams this season is Oregon, Kansas State and maybe Notre Dame even though I really don't think Notre Dame could beat any of them. There is a pretty significant drop off after that. But honestly I have no desire to argue with you. As Albert Einstein so eloquently put it, "Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience." So don't let me talk you out of fading the SEC this bowl season. To the contrary, I encourage it.
Go Apocalypse go!!!

If you matched the SEC teams 1 thru 14 against any other conf. 1 thru how ever many they have, at neutral sites, the SEC would win at least 80% of the games.
