being from niagara falls seeing all this 5" is shutting down the city is wild...
Yeah, it does seem a bit bizarre to those of us from wintery-snowy states but understanadbale because they usually don't get the white stuff like we do (a lot!) and so don't have the manpower, machinery or budgets to handle it like we do.....let alone their drivers not having the experience in dealing with it.
But most the issue will be Thursday and Friday morning...
From what I am reading the impact should be very minor by late Friday afternoon in the DFW region because the temps are expected to rise to near 40 and melt away most of it anyway.

Eddie, it’s not the snow shutting things down it’s the danger of ice. A couple things you all up north have vehicles with chains on your tires. We don’t have chains on our tires. Second you guys get snow over the ice which allows better traction. Here it’s just ice not much snow of any. You can even see how it shines and glistens at nighttime with the street lights. Very different weather here that’s why it’s so much more dangerous not to mention the rain that falls during the day freezes at nighttime when temperatures fall. Up there it’s already freezing during the daytime hours.

This is rare for Texas...Sure, we have sanding trucks, but people are idiots when they drive...And as someone pointed out, driving in snow conditions can be reasonable if you are careful...Ice and raining that freezes when it hits the pavement is another store...The Northern US dedicates more resources to fight inclimate weather impact on road conditions than we do down here...

What are you saying, Wolfeman? Your post is composed of inchoherent gibberish and ambiguity...Perhaps its time to put down the bottle and/or crack pipe, and walk away slowly...

Awesome thread Rockfish ...............
METROPLEX BRACES FOR ARCTIC BLAST!!!!!
Stores are packed, as people stock up - preparing for the worst! Only the strong will survive!!!!!
Meanwhile, it's clear / 40 degrees / not a cloud in the sky. Might get down to 31/32 - 0.1 inch of ice/snow expected tomorrow - stay home folks!
This one might get canceled !!

Yeah, up in Michigan we have tire chains, seasoned drivers, and that snow for "traction".

I don’t think so it’s suppose to be treacherous conditions tomorrow in north Texas. I heard on the news the fans are already flooding the resale markets trying to sell their tickets.

this x 10000. the biggest issue here is that dumb people here think they can drive on ice because they have a truck/suv...and then realize far too late that it doesnt work like that. tons of accidents.
i havent looked at the forecast recently. looked like Friday noon time things warm up enough to make it OK for people driving but that may be tough for everyone.
