These Friday night conference games don't always make sense, Friday nights have seen crazy results over the years. On paper it looks like Louisville, 4-0, ought to steamroll this underachieving 3-1 Wolfpack squad. As Mr. Corso would say, "Not so fast my friend," it's Friday under the Lights!
The Packs offense revolves around Virginia transfer Brennan Armstrong who I've seen several times. He's been good, sometimes dynamic, and he's been very mediocre, pretty much all this season. He hasn't had alot of help, he's their top rusher but against a Louisville team with only 7 sacks, 5 of those last week vs BC, he could have a big game running. He can throw, he doesn't get sacked much so if his receivers can get open, he could revert back to the Armstrong we saw at Virginia, for the night anyway.
On the other side QB Jack Plummer, 10 TDs, 4 pix, has efficiently guided the Cards to 4-0. They're balanced, they've run the ball well but haven't faced a good defense yet. NCST does have a solid defense. They had one bad quarter, the 4th quarter against ND and Sam Hartman. The Pack did get to Sam sacking him 4 times and have 11 sacks on the season. I believe this will be key tonight, the pass rush for NCST, they can get after you and Plummer is not the most mobile QB.
Lastly the kickers, Louisville has a 1st year kicker Brock Travelstead, 4 for 5 FGs, longest 38 yds. NCST has a 5th year kicker transfer Brayden Narveson 83% under 50 yards, no missed XPs, long of 53 in his career. In a game that figures to be close, advantage Wolfpack.
The public "appears" to luv the Cardinals tonight, understandable, the Pack simply hasn't impressed yet. But strange things happen on Friday night, did I mention that? At +152 ML players should consider the homeboys in Raleigh, a place I've sat at and watched a few ACC battles in my day. I'm taking the insurance myself banking on a close game buying the 10 bps-
NCST +4, -120
As always good luck to all!
