Folks, I'm pulling the plug on this season. Gambling on football is a game of skill, but there's a certain amount of luck involved, and this year my luck has been mostly shitty. You can look at the Xs and Os until you're blue in the face, but you can't handicap turnovers, QB injuries, bad calls, etc. I've picked some clunkers this year for sure, but I've had more bad beats this year than any year I can remember, and I've been doing this for 40 years! Bottom line, it's no fun when you repeatedly get your brains bashed in, so I'm closing the book on this season. Last night's WKU loss was the last straw. BOL to you all for the rest of the year.

I seldom post as I have turned to Golf as my favorite wagering sport, but you take care young man. If I fall through the mattress I'll see you in the spring.

What you old timer n wiser ones need to do is to tail these newer generation of sports gamblers. Beginner's luck they calling it. Remember when we were young n new to the hobby? We shine like no other but now we are just a shiny knob.
Find hot or lucky newbies n make money off their streak. The sports are evolving. Rules are changing. Zebras are from the new school of thoughts. Newbies are seeing the game differently and that is how they win. Ride with them. Be one with them. Go with the flow. Don't fight it and your luck is also their luck.

Taking a break takes self awareness and mental fortitude.....most people don't have either, let alone both. Its never a bad thing to put the phone down and turn the TV for a few days.

Hope it lasts..a gambling addiction is just as hard to break as a drug addiction
Not an addiction, friend. Never have I had a problem walking away. I love handicapping, but the game has changed over the years, especially with the transfer portal and NIL. There's so much to keep track of nowadays. Plus, I've lost what I could afford to lose, and I have a Fiesta Bowl to attend!

Let’s call a spade a spade. You’ve been on a run of losing. Blame whatever reason for it. Bottom line is you lost your bankroll and are being responsible in stopping. I’d also suggest to stop betting meaningless bowl games between 18-22 year old kids that aren’t playoff games but you’re a grown man and you’ll do what you want.
This isn’t a nasty or arrogant post. This is just the harsh reality of what these people won’t tell you. They’ll all say “Thanks for your posts and happy holidays”, but it’s just kind words like “In my thoughts and prayers”.
Do some self reflecting and enjoy your Boise State Broncos! At the end of the day, the ONLY thing that matters is you STOPPED when you hit your spending limit. Kudos to you on that! Forget everything else!
