If you want to watch an exciting game with a lot of points scored, tune in to this one. VT will have their hands full with Luck and Co. They thrive on the oppositions mistakes and Luck thrives on making great decisions. Overall the Hokies defense is extremely suspect outside of their 2 great corners. On many defenses, these corners would be much better but the Hokies lack of a pass rush often leaves them isolated and in bad spots. Unfortunately, I see much of the same happening tonight. The Hokies also struggle against big, physical backs who can pound the hole. Taylor fits that bill and will give Stanford the offensive diversity to wear down the undersized Hokies defensive line(mainly at DT).
The Hokies bring a lot to the table but with the injury to Ry and Wilson possibly being sent back to Blacksburg(rumor)...they are short of their usual firepower in the backfield. Boykin has begun to display rock hands of late and their most reliable downfield threat is now Danny Coale. Tyrod has had an amazing year and will unquestionably give Stanford fits, ala Darron Thomas. I just dont think he has the firepower surrounding him to get it done.
This game comes down to whether or not Luck truly is one of the best QB prospects in the last 20 years. I really believe he is and he will be able to decimate the Hokies defense. Even the worst teams can move the ball against this defense, they are just very opportunistic.

Good call Bib, I made alot of cash betting the Hokies after the 2 losses but think they may be outmanned in this one. Really like Va Tech coaches and agree with you on Taylor. Think Luck is really good and in the end will be the difference.

A day after Virginia Tech football coach Frank Beamer said tailback David Wilson and safety Antone Exum will sit out the first quarter of tonight's Orange Bowl for breaking curfew, Beamer announced Sunday that six others were sent home early from Florida.
Beamer wouldn't name those players or describe what rules they broke, but he did say none of the six are in the Hokies' two-deep. They were put on a bus bound for Blacksburg on Saturday and probably didn't arrive until Sunday.
"We told them when we came down here: 'We'll fly you down, but if you mess up, you're going to take a bus back to Blacksburg.' " Beamer said. "I want to say none of these guys was just a total out-there thing. But we got the ground rules when we got down here: Let's do what we're supposed to be doing each and every time. And if it's not, you're going to take a bus home."
This isn't the first time Beamer's sent a player on a long ride home. In fact, he has used it as a cautionary tale every year since sending at least one player back on a bus before the national championship game at the end of the 1999 season
Wilson, Williams to see action; Evans to start
With Wilson suspended for the first quarter and Ryan Williams battling a hamstring injury, junior Darren Evans, Tech's leading rusher, will start tonight against Stanford.
The Hokies also said, though, that Williams will play. He had previously been listed as a "game-time decision" after aggravating the left hamstring he partially tore in the third game of the season.

This team could have laid down after starting 0-2, but they did not. Of course, BeamerBall is always exciting, especially on special teams, but don't think Harbaugh is going to play things "by the book". He's crazy enough to think that he can run more trick plays than VT. This is the guy that put such a beat down on USC, that after the game, Pete Carroll at the midfield handshake asked "What's your deal?"
Andy Luck is the real deal. Finished 2nd to Newton for the Heisman. And this is after had another Stanford player, Toby Gerhart, also finished 2nd for the Heisman, left to go to the NFL. I'm not saying Stanford is a football factory, but show me the list of two different players finishing 2nd in b2b years.................I'm sure it's a short list.
We all know this kid can pass-70% passing, 3000+ yds, Pac-10 record 28 tds. But one thing most people don't realize, is this kid can run when he has to. 438 yards for a non-option Qb is pretty good, and he had 3 runs of 50+ yards. Again, this is not a run-the qb offense.
This is a difficult situation for you Bib, and I'm sure for others. What if you had to bet against YOUR team? Do you remain "faithful" by not making a play? The best argument I've heard is "Does your team pay you when they lose?"

Bibendi, David Wilson was not one of the 6 sent home, fyi.. He and Antone Exum missed curfew by minutes, but were in the hotel lobby, not parading on the town. Both players will play tonight after the 1st quarter. From what I've heard from a key source is that some three deep and ST players have been sent back to Blacksburg. Names have not been made public, but I've heard that none of the six would be seeing the field anyway. However, I've heard that Ryan Williams is truly a gametime decision, but he's a tough kid and I expect him to gut it out tonight.
