New Arkansas Head Coach

Question

This is the word I got yesterday evening guys....I'm not in the circle or claim to be. However one of my good friends is. He told me that the new coach at Arkansas will be Chris Peterson.

Supposedly Jeff Long told 3 recruits that's who the coach was as well.....which would make sense, why else would blue chip kids commit to Arkansas if they didn't know who the coach was.

Yes I would be beyond pumped if Peterson was hired.Also, I&#x27;ve heard that Mike Gundy will be the new coach at Tennessee. Anyone else heard this?

Peterson will not leave Boise State for Arkansas... he and his wife are very content in Boise and he reportedly would only leave to be the Texas head coach when Mack leaves because his wife loves Austin... Sorry Hog fans it ain&#x27;t happening... also Gundy won&#x27;t leave Okie State because he&#x27;s building a power behind T Boone&#x27;s endless money supply, Tennessee is a lateral move is not a small step back from the Cowboys job

Don&#x27;t know about Gundy, know for sure Peterson won&#x27;t take the job in Arkansas, we both have sources on Peterson it seems like, I trust mine more than yours, sorry Hog fan, not this year, Arkansas is anything but a marquee position these days

Chris Petersen is better than the Big East and he knows it. He may love Boise but I doubt that he loves what the Big East has devolved into.Everytime that Boise trys to align themselves with a respectable conference things suddenly go terribly wrong. They join the MWC only to have Utah,BYU, and TCU leave, then they join the Big East and WVU, Pitt, and Syracuse leave and TCU decommits and joins the Big 12 and the Broncos are left battling teams like Memphis,Temple,SMU, and Navy.

If you don't think that Petersen would rather be coaching in the nation's most elite conference in a fertile recruiting area then you are crazy!

If he does go to Fayetteville, the SEC West is gonna' ultra competetive and that is with discounting AU. If they hire a top shelf HC as well it's gonna' be a showdown EVERY weekend in the SEC West.

BTW - I think that Hugh Freeze has done the best coaching job in the nation with the talent that he has in Oxford.

Peterson is very secure in Boise. He makes more than enough money for what it costs to live there. It is inconceivable to me that he would be fired in the next 6 years at Boise, and can probabaly coach there for life if he wants to. He will likely dominate the watered down BE for years to come.

If he goes to Arkansas, it may take up to 4 or 5 years to get his system in place, and even then he may not be able to compete with Bama and LSU. If it does take 5 years, will Arkansas have patience? If he is fired from Arkansas, then what?

I cannot see TN or any university offering Gundy $6mil/yr. Would I like Gundy at TN? Yes, but not at that price tag. That is what we would have to pay to get Gruden, and I am not so sure that would be worth it! Add in the OC and DC and position coaches you are looking at 10-12 mil before you blink.

What does Saban make? 4 to 4.5 mil? And he is arguably the best coach in football! Gundy has done a solid job at Okie St but $6mil...I do not think so.

I think rumors like this start because TN athletic department is not providing the usual $6 mil/annually to the academic department in order to help cover all the costs the Athletic department has lost recently due to coaches buy-outs and lost revenues. Just because TN has this $6 mil available does not mean they will offer that to a new coach.

I would take a Petrino for $2/mil and risks the bad stuff, cause there are only a few sure fire coaches out there, such as Peterson and Patterson, but I do not see them moving! (maybe Peterson because he only makes about 2mil so maybe could wrestle him away, but Patterson is in the upper 3 mil range (just guessing as it is not public info). Gruden would cost 6mil which is why he will be an NFL coach next year. (speculation on my part)

I have endured both the Kiffin and Dooley eras and want ZERO part of a "Gruden era".

On the other hand, I wouldn't cry over a Petrino hire and Mike Gundy however unlikely, would be a grand slam!

as much as i would love to see petersen in Arky .... i dont think this rumor is true, he was just offered a huge and juicy extension at boise for the next 4-6 years if i recall......so... well it a rumor anyway

I don&#x27;t know how this move to the BE is gonna work.......&amp; I&#x27;m not sure Peterson will wanna stick around for the x-country flights to play what&#x27;s left of a poor conf. that could lose its BCS status.........not saying I believe the Arky (or any other) rumors, but I would think a job at Cal would be a bit more appealing just because it&#x27;s a solid conf., not one that&#x27;s falling apart.........

the chances ARE SLIM that peterson is going to leave Boise for Arkansas, based on his past history when other suitors have come calling.i will bump to say i told you so, as i typically do
