Navy comes to
Philadelphia with a close loss to an Ohio state football team that could be
playing in the playoff. Navy played them strong, but the talent and depth of
Ohio State just took over and by the 4th quarter it seemed as the
Navy team was done. Temple comes into the game with momentum for the program in
beating a SEC team. It is drawing the most hype the program has seen in years.
They beat a Vanderbilt team that was flat out “Bad”. The team had no
quarterback heading into the season and ended up looking pathetic on national television.
The game was actually close until turnovers that turned into major points. This
game will be played tough but Reynolds and the Navy team will be poised to get
a key first win for the navy team. Although, temple has an exciting QB, Navy
is by far the best Team. Navy is hungry, while temple will have a little
hangover coming into the game. Navy by 10.
Texas
+1.5
This game
will be a rematch of last year when BYU beat Texas 40-21. I love how BYU plays
every year with strong defense and strong run game. Texas is a program that has huge question
marks surrounding it, as the Hire of Coach strong was not a popular one. The
team does possess talent and most of the talent resides in their running backs
and athleticism on defense. Texas will be without starting quarterback Ash, but
I believe the back-up Swoopes will be adequate. The team will hang on their
dual running backs and Defensive schemes. Most say this is a revenge game for
Texas, but I think it is more than revenge. This is a Statement game for the
team, program, and most importantly, Coach Strong. This game is HUGE for the first year coach. He
will put a great scheme together and have the team ready to play!
Virginia
Tech + 11
This is an
interesting game because of many reasons. It will be a home game for the Ohio
State football team facing a Virginia Tech team that is going under the radar.
Ohio State possess top notch talent, however they are still getting in groove
with new QB Barrett. Virginia Tech has a new quarterback under reigns, which I
believe may be a good thing. The last quarterback was a turnover machine and
cost to many turnovers. I feel V-Tech will play Ohio State strong because of
their superb and partially unknown defense. Defensive Coordinator Foster will
create a deadly scheme going into the game. It was not just how Barrett
struggled against navy, but it was more about how out of rhythm he was. I
question whether or not he is truly ready to go against one of the best
secondaries in the country. If Virginia Tech can get some type of run game
going, this could be a big upset Saturday night.
Missouri
– 4
Missouri
rolls into the year with Matt Mauk at quarterback. He is an ultra dynamic
player and exciting to watch. He is probably the closest thing to Johnny Manziel.
He brings energy and excitement to the offensive side of ball for the tigers.
The defense lost a lot of great players to the NFL last year, but they still
carry excellent players in the front seven. Toledo is a team that has a
transfer quarterback from Alabama, which he never really played. Toledo does
have a powerful offensive line, in which they like to pound running back Kareem
hunt and which allows them to throw over the top. This game will be controlled
at the line of scrimmage. I believe the Missouri front seven will be able to hold
down the run game and offense of Toledo. The biggest key of the game will be
the Missouri offense moving the ball down the field with Mauk making huge
plays.
