Line is PSU +7 just about everywhere... I've already locked in the Nittany Lions.. but..
will this be a distraction to the Gators or an inspiration for UF to step it up..
Below is interesting excerpt from ESPN..
"Meyer talked Monday about the challenges of getting his players fired up
for a non-BCS bowl after appearances in the Sugar Bowl and the BCS
title game the past two seasons"
So.. you taking or laying the points??

I think staying away is the best play. Florida's had a down year and their outlook on the bowl game is uncertain. Whereas Penn State is more motivated. But Florida is just plain better.

Is it someone from within who the team knows and can rally around?
Or someone new that doesnt know a person on the field?
Even with Urban there he wont play a big role in the game calling that day in my opinion.
Assume they won't hire a coach before the bowl game.. correct? otherwise Urban wouldn't coach in it and if they bring in anyone outside the program, could spell trouble for the Gators (though not sure their O could be any worse)

Dunno.
Went Meyer left Utah for Florida, he stayed on and coached the Fiesta Bowl win versus Pitt.
But they hired their defensive coordinator Kyle Whittingham so it wasnt a big stretch for a new coach and the play calling stayed the same in that game but it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

How inspired can the Gators be knowing the coach just quit on them and the team?
It's not like he's getting fired or has to retire.. he willingly left the program.. not sure how fired up I'll be.. esp if Meyer does coach in the game..

One other point I'll bring up..

He's coaching the Bowl game! https://florida.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1162913
I don't know, I think they play hard for him, looks like he's quitting cause of time spent on football and want's more family time. Staying away for me.

tough to say... dangerous game, imo... the team could very well be inspired to send him out a winner, after all he has done for the program... the guy is about as well-liked by his players as any HC in college football...

I thinks this helps UF. Penn State is an average team with average talent. Florida is an average team with elite talent. Perhaps this gets them to pay attention and gives them a reason to play harder. They'll be hiring that Miss. St. coach, so I guess that won't be announced until after they're done beating Michigan through the pavement.

Do you think players will play harder? The way I'm seeing it, Urban (not citing health issues), just doesn't want to coach anymore and is simply walking away from the program on a down year.. as a player, esp. a young one (which this team has tons of), I'd be more pissed than motivated to send him out on top..

I suippose anything's possible when dealing with 19-year-old semi-literate felons. If they have any class, they'll want to send him out on top. They probably don't, so hammer Penn State. Another interesting sub-plot to this game is whether PSU President Graham Spannier will actually try and kill Joe Paterno during the game. Hopefully, NBC will keep a camera on that.

sucks Delaney wants to "own" NYD in terms of TV ratings.. 4 B10 bowls are all on at the same time.. Northwestern, UM, MSU, PSU.. will certainly watch this one now (well that and because I pounded PSU right after news broke and got 7.5..)

I had Penn State as one of my favorite picks of the bowl season. Now I don't know what to think. Florida had quit on the season. Now I think they rally to win Urban's last game.

I say Florida rallies. Too much talent and pride down in Gainesville too. The players respect Urban Meyer, so I am sure they want to send him out a winner.

love the position for Florida now. liked PSU before, but now there are rumblings in State College about JoePa---there is turmoil around that program, while Florida can play inspired ball.
locked and loaded right after the announcement. if JoePa hangs it up, will pull that bet as fast as possible.

I don't think there is anything wrong with how Urban left. He told his team like a man that he will resign. I think his players respect that and will rally. I was leaning Penn State but after this I believe the emotional edge will be with Fla. and they will try to send Urban out a winner.

I'm leaning Florida heavily. Florida still has a really good defense and home field advantage. They will wanna send Urban out a winner for sure. Gators - 7.

Everyone saying Gators want to send Urban out a winner.. OK, that's fine... but how is this team going to score? Offense is just awful.. not sure an extra 12 practices are going to help..
Understandable if Gators laying less than 3.. but to lay a TD or more in some cases seems very risky with an O that has struggled all year and a D that hasn't looked its finest the last few weeks..

The only thing that is preventing me from pulling the trigger.

gotta be Gators or nothing.....UNDER might be best
i really like the Under in this game... only total i feel strongly about... just worried there could be a lot of short fields or potential ST / Defensive scores...
